About this property

Reindeer Mountain cabin was built in 1974, has unique carvings at the ends of the roof purlins and views of Mount Denali. The cabin was once a part of the abandoned Reindeer Mountain Lodge, which is attached and is currently is under deconstruction. No work will occur while guests are in the cabin. The cabin interior has been fully renovated. It is located 27 miles south of Denali National Park at the end of the Denali Highway. Take a short walk to the banks of the Jack River or sit on the porch and enjoy the mountain views.

When traveling from Anchorage or Fairbanks, there are several opportunities for a grocery stop. The last stop coming from the south will be Cubby's at Mile 98.6 Parks. From the north the last stop will Three Bears in Healy, Alaska.

Cantwell has a few local favorites for eating out. Cantwell lodge/Longhorn Saloon, Jam Jam's Spot, and Steve's BBQ Truck.

About 12 miles north in the Carlo Creek area there Panorama Pizza, The Perch, Creekside Cafe, and 229 Restaurant.

great place and location

has everything you need including washer and dryer. new updated contemporary style. nice bathrooms and bedrooms. sandwich shop next door. right down the road from denali highway. great scenery and wildlife all around. saw the aurora in front of the house. great owners who are very responsive and helpful.

Beautiful accommodations!

The updated interior was a surprise! Very nice for two couples to stay. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The grounds around the house we beautiful. There was also a restaurant just a few steps away. We wished we would of booked a longer stay. We didn’t use the washer and dryer, but such a good convenience to have. The location is great if exploring that whole area. The host is always available to answer questions. Mountains all around that area. We will definitely stay there again if we make it up this way again!

Anniversary vacation

This place is nothing short of amazing. Pulled up and 1st thought was oh boy, opened the door to perfection. Everything you need is here and clean. Love this place and would stay again if im back. Wonderful place.

Great place!

This cabin was perfect for our family of 4. It has a great blend of rustic and modern. Beds are super comfy and it's convenient to visit Denali National Park. Very clean too. Highly recommend!

Calvin grew up in Cantwell and I moved here in 2006. We purchased Reindeer Mountain Lodge in 2017 from its original owner and began the slow process of cleaning up the property. While the main hotel rooms had sat empty for many years, was in disrepair, and will eventually deconstructed, the beautiful attached log cabin was salvaged and renovated.
