The Otsego Chateau Sanctuary sits on 14 acres. It’s a stunning place tucked back off the main road where you can enjoy a touch of natures beauty. The home is spacious and bedrooms are setup to accommodate larger groups and families. The information below summarize some perk of the rental in the summer and winter.

Summer:
There are two ponds on site where you can spend time fishing (catch and release only), kayaking, paddle boarding, or swimming. This is a great source of entertainment for the kiddos. If swimming in the pond isn’t your thing, we have a large pool with a spacious patio area for all to enjoy.

The pool is one of the many draws to this property. Surrounding the pool is a handful of lounges, tables, a propane fire pit, and chairs as well as a large umbrella covering. Located in the same area is the propane grill. Also note that the pool has the option to be heated. You can message us about doing so for spring and fall stays. The pool maintains a fairly warm temp during July and August months so heat is likely not needed, but if requested we can accommodate. We do charge for the propane usage, but this is a fairly reasonable rate solely based on usage.

Winter:
Otsego has plenty of great options for winter fun. Located only 10 minutes from Bittersweet Ski Resort, the Chateau is the perfect place to bring the family or friends to enjoy the some of the best skiing in the lower half of Michigan. The house is also located about 15 minutes from the snowmobile trail head in Allegan. With hundreds of miles of trails in West Michigan, Allegan trail head is a great place to jump on and ride. If snowmobiling or skiing isn’t your things, you can always just enjoy the beauty of the snow from the house and just relax and unwind.

The property also has two large pole barns that can be used for large gathering such as weddings, grad parties, or family reunion. Please send a message if this is something you would like to reserve in addition to the houses during your stay.

Beyond the water and barns there is still a great time to be had. We have bean bags, misc yard games, 2 fire pits, a ping pong table located in the garage, (2) 3 season rooms, and a beautiful kitchen that's large enough to accommodate your entire group.

There are two houses on the property. The main house has 4 bedrooms, and 2 full baths. The guest house has one bedroom, a pull out couch in the living area, and a full bath as well. The guest house is seasonal so it's closed during the winter months (Dec-March). The prices are adjusted to lower rates during that time as the sleeping space is lowered from 16 to 14 people. Please note that the listing still shows the max capacity for guests. Each bedroom (other than the guest house upstairs bedroom) has a TV with Direct-TV programming for guests to use.

You will also find some photos of the decorations we plan to have up for the Christmas season. These will be up roughly from the week after Thanksgiving until the week after New Years. We hope this added touch will entice you to consider the Otsego Château Sanctuary for your holiday gatherings. The photos showcase the decorations, so you can get a feel the space.

Great place!

We highly recommend this place. We celebrated our son’s first birthday here with family and friends and everyone enjoyed the place especially the pool. The host is very easy to reach and gave quick responses. Everything went smoothly, from checking in to checking out. Overall we had an amazing staycation!

We all enjoyed our stay here. The kids had so much fun fishing, swimming and kayaking! The location was a bit far from the beach, but we made the most of that because of all the amenities the property itself had to offer.

Family vacation to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Had a great time! Enjoyed our stay. Fishing & kayaking provided hours of fun especially for the kids. Everyone enjoyed the pool. Good 4th of July fireworks in nearby Allegan. Minor appliance issues with the oven in the main house (getting oven to preheat in bake mode was a little problematic). Gals would have liked to have a mirror in the bedrooms near an electrical outlet to make hairdryer & curling iron use a bit more convenient. Overall great week!

Beautiful place

I liked the place because the younger kids really enjoyed the pool. The older kids loved going to the pond fishing and using the kayaks provided. Great choice for large families.

Beautiful well maintained property - there was something for everyone in our party. The pool area is beautiful and the pond is full of fish. The huge kitchen and pantry was great for our large family. The stairs to the bedroom in the guest house are a little scary so only young adults were willing to climb up there. Overall - a great place for a private, peaceful vacation.

Family Vacation

We actually stumbled upon this property because our previous VRBO host ghosted us and we had to find a last minute place to stay. Boy did we luck out!!! Not only is this place beautiful, it is full of thoughtful touches. The beds were comfy and the pool was marvelous. Mitch was so responsive when I texted him. Everything you need

Wonderful stay at a wonderful place. We used this house for a family ski trip and had several kids ranging in age from 2-7. The house had everything we needed for the kids; kids plates, bowls, utensils, toys, books, and plenty of activities! The house also has everything we needed to cook meals. It made the stay very easy and relaxing.

Quiet Country Getaway

The property was well kept and full of activities. We enjoyed our time as a family around the pool, watching nature, kayaking, fishing, and in the home playing games. The home is within driving distance to many restaurants and shopping centers. The owners have thought of about everything and placed many fun surprises in the home that made our stay extra special. Our family of 12 had an excellent family vacation at this location. Everything was as advertised. Pool was great and kids caught fish, a few 10-12 bass and lots of blue gill. Kitchen was large and well equipped to handle food preparation for the family meals. Communication with Mitchell was excellent, very timely. Otsego Private Rendezvous

With a ten-year old and two twelve-year olds, the kayaks were in constant use, as were the fishing poles we brought and the soccer ball! In the modern, immense kitchen the frying pan was kept hot with cooking the fish as well. With ten people, everyone found their own private and playful space. Coming from FL, Manhattan, and San Francisco as a family, we entertained family members in the area with fabulous dining in a spacious area. Perfect for our Fall Fling!

Pastoral and quiet

We spent a lovely week decompressing, reacquainting and enjoying the gorgeous pool, kayaking on the pond, and watching the kids explore the property. The kitchen was perfectly suited to gathering at and between mealtimes. The pool deck was also a favorite family spot. Peaceful evenings sitting on the dock were so calming. The amenities were carefully thought out: cabinets and pantry were well stocked with all the necessities and many courtesy items. Beds were comfy and the house easily accommodated 13 people, including a few active children. It was a wonderful and restorative vacation.

Excellent house and property

We had a fantastic experience at this house and on this property. Plenty of room to throw the football and run around and have fun with kids. The house was very nicely updated and very clean. It was close enough to the ski hill to come home and eat lunch and then head back to the slopes. Looks like this place would be amazing in the summer, too, with the pool. We expected all the rooms to have a king bed and found one to have only a full bed - the owner said they will update the post for accuracy. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and would come back ourselves. Thanks for a great trip!

Otsego Château Sanctuary Rocks!!!!

Our family from Colorado, Illinois and Indiana gathered at this house for our family week together. There was so much to do we hardly left the property. The owner let us bring our 4 kayaks and along with his 2 we almost always had all 6 of them on the pond during the day. The pool was awesome as well. The living space inside was open and let us all be together in the same room whether watching TV, playing board games or cooking/eating. We had one small issue with the Direct TV and the owner/manager was on top of the issue and had it resolved super quick. We would suggest this property to everyone and will definitely be back!!!

Country House

The house was just what we were looking for to get away for a relaxing week. The house was well equipped with anything that we needed. My kids were in the heated pool for the majority of the stay. We spent most nights grilling out and enjoying fishing with the kayaks on the ponds. The house was out in the country but still close enough to town. The town had plenty of options for grocery stores and eating out. We took the kids to a really cheap and nice movie theatre. Mitch was there for any questions we had or for anything that came up. He was more than happy to make our stay as best as possible.

Beautiful, peaceful retreat

I've never used vrbo before this rental. Our stay was lovely. The house was just as beautiful in person as the pictures posted for the listing and even better, there were so many little touches that made this place feel like home. A vintage record player, board games for all ages, yard games and pool accessories, the candy bar in the panty, not to mention just the overall decor and attention to detail from the owner has made this a true sanctuary. The acres of land and water to relax and explore were so serene. My father had a blast fishing the pond and was so proud of the huge bass he caught and released. Overall, the stay here was nothing short of amazing and you will be hard pressed to find something so peaceful and serene yet so close to town. 10 out of 10, 100%, would recommend.

Christmas in wonderland

We hosted 27 members of our family for Christmas Day. Only 6 of us stayed overnight. We had heard that the house would be decorated, but when we walked in my breath was nearly taken away. It was so beautiful. The house looked exactly as pictured. The kitchen and bathrooms were completely supplied with every possible thing we might need. Now I know for next time, I don't need to bring so much. The weather was so mild, lots of outside play, corn hole, ping pong in the garage, lots of fun around the foosball table. On the 26th, our daughter and son pulled out the kayaks and paddled around the pond. Magic all around. Thank you for the best celebration ever.

Great place for a large group gathering

This property worked well for our gathering of 13-17 (had some local people that joined throughout our week). We had all the basics for our stay. The pool was a great space to hang out in and we liked that pool towels were provided even through most of us brought our own. The pond was a huge hit and many fished in it and we saw lots of wildlife including deer and coyote pups playing of on the distance. We would have loved some larger pots & pans in the kitchen to handle making meals for our large group, but plenty of dishes and silverware. Most issues were handled right away by the owner, except for the ice maker which was was not functioning all week. With 3 refrigerators on the property, we had plenty of space for all the food and drink supplies and the bags of ice. The secondary house was a huge help with the number of people we had very nice it had the air-conditioning unit for sleeping at night, but know that the people sleeping out there must be able to climb some awkward stairs to the loft bed. Lots of outdoor games and extra outdoor chairs. The dirt road it's on was a bit busier than we expected but the tree cover on the edge of it kept it private. Overall, our group was really happy with the property!

Why they chose this property

We chose this property for the amenities it offered. We felt that there are many great options on Michigan's inland lakes, but much fewer choices for a more secluded rental in a more serene setting that was large enough to accommodate a large family and even a couple medium sized families/groups. With no lake access, we felt a pool was must. This property also boast a 2 acre pond which we felt was a huge plus.

Moving inside, we loved the modern farmhouse feel and antique decor. The guest house adds a level of privacy as an option too.

Overall, the just felt like the right fit for us when considering owning a VRBO rental. It is very unique, we knew that guests would feel like this checked many boxes when considering a place to vacation to.
