Tucked in the forest, Guests will discover that Canyon Hideaway Cottage is a very spacious (2200+ square feet) home with a front porch, back porch and large screened side porch, nestled on 2+ wooded acres on the brow – all behind a security gate for seclusion, safety and privacy.
Guests will find that the cottage is decorated tastefully and well-equipped for any retreat with a solo stove, games and MANY books for your reading enjoyment. The views are infinite at this retreat property, as the entire backyard overlooks a beautiful valley with a breathtaking brow view to watch the sunrise, and the front porch view allows views of birds, deer grazing and other wildlife in its natural habitat. As you will see by the list of attractions and dining favorites provided to guests via email, there are many things to do and see in the Lookout Mountain area of Alabama, but for many Guests, this retreat property is the favorite, because it provides everything you could possibly want for a peaceful experience.
Guests agree that the heart of this home lies in the many seating areas where family and friends can gather together. At the forefront, a guest favorite is the large screened porch with its large swing bed and wood-burning fireplace. There is plenty of seating, and even a Big Green Egg for BBQ grilling. The Solo smokeless fire pit is directly behind the home and close to the back porch. The area is spacious enough for everyone to gather around the fire. “Rim of the Canyon Café and General Store” is less than 2 miles from the property and has s’more supplies and lots of other goodies for your retreat!
This home has an open floor plan, so that the spacious living room, dining area and kitchen ALL have a fabulous view of trees and mountains.
The living room has a lot of comfortable seating with two large couches and a comfy leather chair and ottoman. One sofa has a queen sofa bed that can sleep 2 guests very comfortably. Even our 9th and 10th guests can truly have a peaceful night’s sleep with amazing morning sunrise views!
We have a sofa bed kit (in a zipped case) with all-the-things:
-Dynasty 4-inch Cool Gel Memory Foam Mattress in an antimicrobial encasement
-2 queen pillows in antimicrobial encasements
-800 thread-count sheets & pillowcases
-Berkshire EcoSoft queen blanket
-soft, furry accent pillows
Also in the living room is a remote-controlled, large stone gas-log fireplace and a 55” HD Roku TV for streaming your own favorite subscription channels. Free WiFi (100+ Mbps). There are also many books and board games for endless hours of family fun.
Beside the large windows with views overlooking forest and the valley below, there is a dining table with plenty of seating, and nearby there is a small antique table with an additional two dining chairs available for Guests. Next to the kitchen, there is also an eat-in counter with 3 stools.
The spacious kitchen is well-equipped, and the chef in your family will love it! Guests will find plenty of spices, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and appliances needed to enjoy preparing meals together. You will even discover a large kitchen Island with plenty of room for meal preparation and a warming drawer! Behind bi-fold doors in the kitchen, there is a laundry area with a large washer and dryer.
There are two bedrooms on the main floor. The front bedroom boasts a queen bed, comfy chair, an electric fireplace, and a 40” HD Roku TV. There are beautiful window views into the woods, and next to the bedroom is a full bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet.
The next bedroom on the main floor is the primary bedroom and has a queen bed, television and comfy sitting area. There is also a large antique desk and chair - perfect for those who are looking for a great space to work remotely. The mountain views from the large window are breathtaking, as they overlook the eastern Broomtown Valley. You can capture the sunrise each morning. Next to the primary bedroom is a very spacious bathroom that includes two separate vanities, a large shower and a large soaking bathtub with a large window that gives picturesque views into the woods of the retreat property.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. Another guest favorite - one bedroom boasts a queen bed and Roku television, along with a step-up, reading nook with the best window views in the home. The comfy chair in the reading nook simply offers a peaceful escape while you read or take in views the mountains – from the greatest heights, overlooking Broomtown Valley. Next to this bedroom, there is another full bathroom with a shower, vanity and toilet.
Another bedroom on the second floor is directly across the hall, and this adorable bonus room boasts an additional 2 twin beds.
Alabama's own native plants and a variety of wildlife can be seen each morning as you enjoy your first cup of coffee or hot tea. Listen close for the footsteps of deer going to and coming from the National Preserve that is so close to this property.
Note: The separate garage is used only by the retreat property owners, but guests can park directly in front of the two garage doors, and there is also a spacious turnaround area that can be used for parking. The parking area has sidewalk access to the front porch and side screened porch. (3 cars max)
