West Maui, Kahana Sunset, Ocean View with AC, Private Beach
Kahana Sunset is quite special since it has its own spacious white sandy beach in Keone Nui Bay. Sitting on our west facing beach you have picturesque views of Molokai and Lanai islands.
Since this is a small complex, it is ideal for family vacations and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Loads of lawn and garden space if the pool and beach are not your preference. Both of our lanais give you straight on views of our grounds and sunsets on the water.
We're sure once you've spent your first vacation here ... you'll return. Over 50% of Kahana Sunset guests are return guests, many have been vacationing here for over 20 years.

Had a blast here and location was wonderful! Condo was well equipped but only accommodation it did not have was beach chairs and would have been nice to include these. Otherwise, very nice place to stay and property was very well taken care of, would rent here again!
This is a great condo unit and overall fantastic condo complex. The unit has a good layout for and is well supplied.Greatly appreciated the cooler as well as the spices and kitchen supplies.
Property was as described and beautifully landscaped. Was wonderful waking up to the sounds of the ocean off our patio. The water was a bit rough while were there so we were unable to swim in the ocean, but the hot tub and pool were available for our enjoyment.More attention to detail is needed for the cleaning of the property. The linens and bathrooms were clean, but the floors were tacky dirty throughout the condo. There was sticky candy under the second bedroom bed that had been there for some time and we ended up deep cleaning the grease (?bacon) from the stovetop.
The unit was in a wonderful location and was secluded whichbwas may favorite part. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Thr ice chest, beach chairs, surf boards, and BBQ grills were included and awesome! All in all check in was a hassle but everything after that was great!! wonderfulaccomdstinhmanagement
Great location to great dining (Ulu Kitchen enjoyed by us and our son and his wife on separate date nights) as well as to the beautiful small crescent shaped beach surrounded by nature (Slaughterhouse Beach that was awesome for snorkeling, boogie
boarding and body surfing and tide pooling with our 6 and 9 year old grandkids). Many happy times had by the 6 of us.
Condo amenities including pool, BBQ areas, decking near beach ( where turtles hung out) and condo lanai’s were terrific.
Nice and far from the city. Peaceful.
It would have been nice to have a hot tub. Parking was little tight for a mini van. Otherwise, safe and beautiful place to stay. The view was awesome. The unit was great.
This condo complex is a jewel. The beach is small but wonderful. Sea turtles were seen everyday. The condo is a basic place with everything you could need for your time at the beach.
This is a great unit in the Kahana Sunset complex and has incredible views of the ocean and island of Molokai. Unit was clean and well stocked. Beds were comfy and having individual A/C units in each room was a great bonus! The complex was very family friendly and the grilling area/pool were very nice. Ending each day sitting out by the rock wall watching the sunset was a memory our family will never forget! WiFi and TVs worked great and so did all the appliances. Will definitely stay here again when visiting Maui.
Our family of four (two children aged 9 and 12) stayed comfortably over the past week and had the best time. Location is fantastic in relation to everything on west/north Maui but away from the crowds. The facilities (pool/lawn/grills/etc) were clean, very well maintained and entertaining for all. The condo was comfortable and well equipped— especially for us since we do almost all of our own cooking (with local market finds) any time we are on the island. We are already plotting a return. Nothing could have been better.
Great place & location. Easy check in. 6 of us stayed and there was enough sleeping space. The kitchen was great! Cooked most of our meals. Just make sure everything gets put away at night - even frangrace toiletries because the Hawaiian roaches come out forsure, especially in the smaller bathroom. Having a washer & dryer was a bonus! We definitely enjoyed our stay. Thank you John and Kathee.
We had a great famy vacation at kahana sunset. John was great at communicating and the property was as advertised. The only small issue we had was a clogged sink which we called Sullivan about and by the time we were back from a snorkel tour it was fixed! Pool was great, condo was clean with great kitchen accessories! Only small downside was the tides were high so the beach right out our door had waves crashing up to the wall so we had to go 2 minutes down the road to hit the beach. Not really an issue since theres so many great beaches. Honolua bay with a SUP and snorkel was amazing! Highly recommend!

Great location, amazing beach, terrific views
My wife, two kids (2 and 5), mother in law and I all stayed at this great home and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our favorite was snorkeling with the many giant turtles off the beach. I don’t think we could have asked for a better place to stay while we were in Maui. Only drawback was the lack of bathroom on the main floor, but that was not a big deal. Oh and the fridge was a little noisy. Also not a big deal. Overall if you stay here, you won’t be disappointed.

Would stay again
The view from the room is just as listed ! Watched beautiful sunsets, saw lots of turtles , awesome little spot to teach the little ones how to snorkel! The condo it’s self could use a deep cleaning, especially the carpets. Washer and dryer were life savers ! Wifi wasn’t great but had full cable . We’ll equipped kitchen . Location wasn’t much walking distance to anything but we had a car so wasn’t a big deal. For the price , definitely worth it ! Thanks again John !

really needs to be cleaned. time to get new bedding
Beautiful location with access to a quiet sandy beach (lots of whale and turtle sightings and a picture perfect sunset). Short walk to Napili Market for coffee, baked goods, groceries, and great restaurants. Each bedroom has its own private access (via stairs) and AC unit which made naps for my 1 year old much easier than expected. The kitchen is a good size and has all your essentials. Master bedroom has a big patio and washer/dryer. We stayed at a larger complex during the second half of our vacation and realized that the size of Kahana Sunset is perfect for a family with infants or even older adults.
Thank you John and Sullivan Properties for all the help (accessible, quick to respond, etc) before and during our trip!

Wonderful Kahana Sunset Condominium - Great Value!
Our family of five spent 9 days at this unit and couldn't have been more pleased. The Kahana Sunset grounds are meticulously maintained by a dedicated staff. The pool area and common areas (including some excellent BBQ grills) are cleaned daily, the vegetation is beautiful, the grass is fairway quality, and the beach is spotless. The beach and ocean cove are a small slice of paradise. The days we were there the water was smooth and clear with excellent snorkeling with fish and sea turtles. The sand is perfect, and my kids really enjoyed playing on the beach and in the water. This complex is a very nice change of pace from some of the other larger resorts on Maui. There is no fighting the crowds for lounge chairs or prime spots by the pool or beach. It is also extremely convenient to make quick trips back to the unit to grab drinks/snacks, beach toys, towels, etc. At the larger resorts that can be a 15 minute trip. At Kahana Sunset it is about a minute trip. We also especially enjoyed picking limes off the lime trees for our drinks and one day the staff set out a basket of bananas grown on the property. The property is ideally situated about 15 minutes north of downtown Lahaina and a mile south of Kapalua. I enjoyed morning runs north to Kapalua to enjoy the beautiful Kapalua Coastal Trail, which is about a 5 mile round trip from Kahana Sunset.
The unit itself is an ideal set-up for a family of 4-5 looking for the conveniences of home in an ideal location. We fully utilized the well supplied kitchen throughout the week. Air conditioning is a major bonus for this specific unit as I believe the majority of the other units in Kahana Sunset do not have air. The beds are very comfortable and the showers are clean, big, and have nice water pressure and ventilation. The laundry machine and dryer are located in the master bedroom and very convenient. The unit has covered parking located just outside the entrance. We also found the owner and property manager of this unit to be very attentive to our needs and any questions we had before, during and after our trip. The only minor suggestions for improvement would be that the bedspreads, furniture in the living room, and stairway carpeting are a little past their prime and while clean, could be refreshed. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this unit for anyone interested in a great value for a Maui vacation with this family. We would definitely stay there again on a return trip.
Loved the location and the easy beach access. Grounds were well maintained, although only 3 BBQs were available due to some common areas being blocked off for maintenance. The unit we stayed in was convenient, easy parking by the door, and had room to spread out. Our primary complaint is that the floors and carpet were filthy and we encountered cockroaches throughout. It was odd, because surfaces were clean, kitchen and linens/towels clean, but floors neglected. It was nice to have a washing machine in the unit and air conditioning.
While the property did seem like it could use a good deep clean, the location was everything we had hoped for and more. Great layout for families and outstanding beach. We loved our sunset view and couldn’t beat swimming with the turtles!

About the host
Hosted by John King
The King's, Kathie and John. Our first visit to this complex was on our honeymoon in 1994 and we have been vacationing there once or twice a year ever since. In 2002 we decided we had to purchase our own piece of paradise. Our son Marc and his wife Nicki and our grand kids Gianna and Dante really love this Maui paradise too. We should all be so lucky, G We all live in Windsor, California, which is about an hour north of San Francisco.
Why they chose this property
We chose to buy here because it's a smaller complex, the grounds are well maintained, has it's own beach, great views of Molokai and Lanai, good snorkeling, and it's peaceful.
