About this property
Trullo Alberobello is waiting for you
A true haven, beehive shaped trullo, offering guests an attractive outdoor swimming pool and walled garden. This is complemented with a spacious terrace and sun deck area with barbecue under the shade of a natural bamboo trellis ensuring guests enjoy this unique, fully detached trullo featuring new furniture and fittings. It is reached from the village of Xewkija by a small track and a private driveway.
There are two spacious double bedrooms, one with en suite. Both bedrooms have air condition / heating system (Mitsui and LG) on pay per use basis; moreover, there is an extra single bed in each bedroom, plus the main bathroom. It can accommodate up to six (6) persons comfortably. The fabulous open plan sitting / dining space gives the trullo an unusually intimate feel, that only deepens when it is looked at from inside as it shape is constantly changing.
The fully equipped oak kitchen comes with a Smeg cooker (hob & oven), Smeg refrigerator, LG washing machine (8 kilos), cable TV, free WiFi + Lavazza espresso / capuccino machine. There are four sun loungers to relax and unwind by the superb pool.
Mightily Impressive: The Rotunda church has the second highest dome, internally, in Europe (after St Peter's in Rome), is 6 m taller than St Paul's in London and can accommodate nearly three times the village's population. The villagers wanted such a church and it was constructed and paid for entirely by local volunteer labor and donations.
The fanatical dedication and skill of the stone masons is remarkable. Seen from within, the 16 clear -glass windows of the dome and 16 smaller windows in the lantern illuminate the milky limestone, invoking more space than actually exists. If you stood at a distance, the fields opposite Ta 'Lambert at sunset, the dome presents a striking silhouette as the orange light powers through it.
The interior is restrained and simple in its execution. Part of the rich interior of the old church has been dismantled like Lego and rebuilt stone by stone in what is called the Musuem of Sculpture to the left of the Carrara marble main altar.
Unique Trullo and the power of design: The harmony and intriguing energy of this architectural trullo lends its power of design with the massive stone jutting out is a masterpiece and testament to the skill of the local stone masons. The endlessly shifting surfaces convey the infinite variety of the hand-crafted ethos of an earlier era, the cultivation of a sense that something has been shaped by a human hand, providing angled views of the superb pool (8 x 7m) to celebrate the joy that can come out of creative freedom, and by extension, to reassert the individual's place within a larger dimension.
