We have been to Estes at least once a year for the last 15 years. This was one of the best places we have stayed. Beautiful cabin with wonderful views, close to downtown and Safeway. Direct route to RMNP. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Rockhedge! It’s beautifully decorated and feels like home! The close access to RMNP and Estes Park was so convenient. We were thrilled one morning to watch the elk saunter by!! We were so comfortable as a family of five adults and the house is well stocked and the only thing you need to supply is your food! Thanks you for a wonderful experience!

10/2025: Was super impressed with this property. I've never seen a cleaner place! Beds were very comfy. The 2 bedrooms on the main floor had blackout blinds, so was perfectly dark in the mornings, which I so appreciate. Three times we saw a flock of turkeys go along the road, up to 22 of them at one time. So cool! Great water pressure, lots of hot water, deep (and SUPER CLEAN) bathtub, a fire was laid in for us, such a gorgeously restored house!! Tiles in bathrooms were gorgeous (and SUPER CLEAN), hardwood floors were so smooth and clean also! Lots of beautiful old-timey furniture! Great ambiant lighting! A very stunning house, with lots of space, indoors and out! Loved it!

Best of Times

Rockhedge did not disappoint. The arts and crafts charm, plus the comfort and convenience provided by the owners’ careful restoration of this historic property made our stay a delight. The location’s easy access to just about everything was an added bonus. Best VRBO experience yet!

Unforgettable Stay – Even Better Than the Photos!

This home was absolutely excellent, one of our best VRBO stays ever. The pictures truly don’t do it justice. It’s beautifully maintained, fully stocked with everything you could need, and in the perfect location just minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park and downtown Estes. Our kids absolutely loved the house and made countless playful “adventures” out of every nook and cranny. And the views? Let’s just say they’re breathtaking… even from the bathroom. You haven’t truly experienced the Rockies until you’ve admired a mountain vista while sitting on the toilet. The owners were fantastic. They were responsive, helpful, and easy to communicate with. We would absolutely stay here again the next time we’re in town. Highly recommend!

Get away with grandkids

Amazingly beautiful home with all of the amenities one needs for a short or lengthy stay. In a word, charming! It is spacious, yet cozy with beautiful surrounding rocks and tress. Located just moments away from downtown restaurants and shopping, and of course at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park, this is a great location. Today we played frisbee golf in the front yard, spending quality time together.

Estes Park Gem

Rockhedge is a gem. We visited recently with our adult granddaughter and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is beautifully restored, spotless, spacious, comfortable, quiet, fully stocked, has lots of plants, artwork and books, and is conveniently located near the Stanley Hotel but away from the busyness. It is on a very pretty lot with outdoor seating and views of the pink rocks adjacent to Lumpy Ridge. It has a wonderful fireplace for the cool evenings. Highly recommend this property.

Delightful Mountain Retreat

This home was comfortable and welcoming. The property manager kept an open line of communication to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Our 4-year old loved the wooden swords that were out in the yard, and we played many games of pirate ship in the boulders. My teen loved the loft where she could avoid everyone else. The proximity to Estes Parks shops and restaurants as well as RMNP was great.

The house accommodated our family of 4 small kids

I loved the house and the location. The large boulders on the property provided great entertainment for the kids while we watched them from the patio. The grill and second patio off the dinning area was perfect for our family gathering of 16. A fast drive to all the hiking and only a short walk of 0.7 mile to Starbucks. The negative points were small but disappointing: stove taking 2 hours to heat up, not being able to fill the tub( yes,I read the directions. Ceiling fan was noisy. With that being said the house still was over the top enjoyable and we will definitely be back.

We loved our stay in this beautiful home. Check-in was easy and the host was communicative and available. The home was clean and comfortable with so many special features inside and awesome natural beauty outside. The home's location is conveniently located: very close to town as well as the national park. We saw wildlife every day (wild turkeys, mule deer, chipmunks) and felt like we were in nature even though the home is located in a cute neighborhood. We enjoyed playing games next to a roaring fire (that was kindly set up and ready to light) and our family of 5 adults made wonderful memories. The only thing we wished for was a TV in the main living area. We went on our trip during football season and our teams had big games which had to be watched in one of the bedrooms. I was worried about the home not having a/c and I do not like being hot. However, that wasn't a problem at all as there were fans available and the evenings were chilly. We absolutely loved our time in Estes Park and hope to be able to stay in this beautiful home again!

Terrible experience with host. They didn’t leave the check in information. We arrived at 4pm with no access to the property. We had to find another place last minute. 3 hours after check in, host finally calls back. Don’t recommend the host. Can’t tell you about the property as we didn’t stay there.

What a delightful home--so many windows with lovely views. We loved the home's comfortable furnishings and original Art Deco architectural details. Although we didn’t cook more than breakfast, I apprecoated the real cook's kitchen complete with Viking stove, good cookware and sets of china and silverware. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful but just a short drive from grocery store, shopping and downtown.Maybe best of all, we saw a large bull elk on the lawn the first morning.Durango and her assistant Toon responded quickly to questions. The property is lovingly maintained.

This is a gorgeous and comfortable home. It was incredibly clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment you could possibly want. We enjoyed hanging out on the patio with its views of the nearby mountains and the elk, which passed through the yard! I highly recommend Rockledge and can’t wait to visit again.

About the host

I am an East Coast girl from Connecticut who moved to Colorado with my family when my father was employed by IBM in Boulder 1966! I graduated from Estes Park High School and continue to love this community and the beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. I realize what a great privilege it is to be located next to one our our nation's treasured parks!

Why they chose this property

My husband, Mark, and I lived in Santa Barbara for many years. While enjoying our time there, our attention was drawn to the Craftsman Style of Architecture including Prairie Style and the California Bungalow. We fell in love with this style of home and knew that someday we would find a property suitable for us to restore with the artistic integrity of this form of architecture. We knew it was Rockhedge as soon as we visited the home. Built in 1921 and situated on a beautiful lot; this was the perfect place for us to restore in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

What makes this property unique

This home is warm and welcoming, thoughtfully renovated with attention to detail.
This is a favorite quote of our's by Frank Lloyd Wright:
'A Building should appear to grow easily from its site and be shaped to harmonize with its surroundings if nature is manifest there, and if not, try to make it as quiet, substantial, and organic as she would have done were the opportunity hers.'

We hope that you feel at home here. We are happy to share our interpretation of the Arts & Crafts architecture and philosophy with you. We know that you will enjoy the natural surroundings of this home, the easy access to the shops and restaurants of our charming mountain village and our spectacular Rocky Mountain National Park!

Welcome to Rockhedge.

Durango & Mark
