I had an amazing time. This space has a very cozy and home feel. The property manager was amazing helpful and a great communicator. If I am ever in need of a space in the area again I would definitely choose this space over and over.
I can say that traveling 15 hours from Oklahoma with 3 kids was an experience and staying here felt just like home. Was absolutely amazing and definitely plan on coming back and using this property on our next trip up!!!
Everything was very clean. We enjoyed the full size table for playing cards in the evening. Roanoke is a great little town with interesting boutiques. Would definitely recommend this Cheerful Home on the Hill and the town of Roanoke.
The house on the hill was the perfect spot for our family to stay for our visit to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. The town of Roanoke was a short walk with great stores and ice cream. The snacks that awaited us were very appreciated. All the beds were comfortable. We hope to stay again and will recommend.
Property presented as advertised. Owner is responsive. Bathroom is small - AND - sufficent. My family was comfortable.

Thoughtful Details, but Cleanliness Could Be Better
We appreciated the effort the host put into providing snacks and making the space comfortable overall. However, there were a few areas that could use some attention to improve the guest experience. The bathroom was not in a condition we felt comfortable using for showers throughout the weekend. The vent appeared to need cleaning, and the vanity setup, while compact, offered limited storage since it was already stocked with items. A more spacious and organized setup would be a welcome improvement. We also noticed stink bugs throughout the house, which was a bit unsettling. The mattresses were comfortable, but the pillows could use an upgrade, as they felt flat and firm, which might not suit everyone's preferences. With a few updates and adjustments, this space could be much more enjoyable for future guests.

The property is at a great location. It was a cute older home. Not too clean though. Bathroom is need need of alot of work. Lots of rotted wood and shower was disgusting. We had a check in glitch, but things happen. Host was communicative and helpful. Lots of cobwebs, dead bugs in rooms. We vacuumed and washed some walls and woodwork. Bedooms upstairs door knobs about falling off. Looks like painting updates have been done. Outside of house was overgrown with trees. Vines growing into house at back door.Again, great location and a could be cute house. Needs some TLC. Some opportunities for improvement. Especially for cleanliness. Just some thoughts.Host was pleasant and the kitchen was well stocked wuth dishes and plates. Enjoyed the area.
This is a nicely renovated older home. Spacious kitchen for food prep, comfortable seating around a large screen tv, beds are comfy. We enjoyed our stay here! Bathroom could use some updating, but with all the work they have done on the rest of the house, I’m looking forward to seeing that renovation next time we stay there!
Cute house in quaint Roanoke! Decorated nicely and beds are comfortable. The shower head needs an upgrade, it doesn’t spray far out so we had to almost be touching the back wall in order to have water on us and combined with the low water pressure it was nearly impossible to feel clean. Also if anyone in your stay is more than 6 foot tall, beware of the low doorways. My husband hit his head multiple times going in and out of the downstairs bedroom and the bathroom..
The house has a simple charm. It was perfect for our short stay to visit family in Huntington. Plenty of room, snacks on counter and waters in fridge. Would definitely stay again in the future when we’re in town.
Cute home clean and comfortable. Curb appeal is needed.

Inconvenient
Guests are greeted on the outside of the home with weeds and mulberry trees growing too close to the building. A tree also blocks the back door. The inside appears clean except for a very dusty exhaust fan in the tiny bathroom. The bathroom also had two insects - one dead, one alive. The tiny bathroom and downstairs bedroom are not convenient; there is no room for toiletries or a suitcase.
Place to put your things and catch some zees while visiting family in Roanoke.

Overcome with Heat
Unfortunately we were met by bugs and needed to go buy bug spray. A/C was completely broken and did not go below 74. We were in town for a wedding, so needless to say it was not enjoyable getting ready. It was 80 degrees out, and we were literally sweating all day and night. Is in need of some cosmetic work. Beds were comfortable but it was very hard to sleep in the heat. Owner said he was unable to find someone to fix the a/c. He did, however, compensate for that, which we greatly appreciated. Overall it was hard to enjoy the property due to the heat. If thinking of visiting in the summer, be sure that the a/c is repaired. The area is very nice.

Adequate
It's ok, nothing special. Bathroom is very small. Could be better if there were some hooks, shelves and a light over the medicine cabinet. Overall ok
We were in town for a basketball game at Huntington University. The house is very clean and host was excellent to deal with. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen was stocked and updated nicely. If we could change anything bathroom is a little small for a family. Obviously we knew there was only one bathroom so we made it work, would definitely stay again if in the area.
When we pulled up to the property, we were a bit uncertain with the outside appearance, and then we walked into the porch to a gem of an accommodation. The interior is beautiful and comfortable and perfect for our family to spend time together while in the area for a birthday party. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cookware, snacks, and coffee. Every room is homey with the most comfortable couches and mattresses. The thermostat worked great and provided cooling comfort for a humid day.
Jeremiah responded to the couple of questions we had immediately and professionally.
Roanoke is beautiful and truly a bonus to our plans to attend a family birthday in Huntington. In fact, we should have scheduled an additional night just to enjoy Roanoke.
A few extra towel hooks in the bathroom and this place is perfection! We highly recommend staying here as a very comfortable, clean, and welcoming alternative to a hotel.
