The village is known as Kentrochori or Kedrochori or Vouidomagergeio, it is 37km away from Rethymnon city. This old settlement is recorded in the Venetian censi of the 16th and 17th centuries as Vouidomagergeio. In 1940 it was baptized Kentrochori.
This village is a charming cool retreat. Water rushes through the village endlessly in lined furrows and passes through the village fountains. The village has a shaded square and a few cafes, and surprisingly, given the size of the town, an excellent taverna. It is well positioned for getting to Spili, Rethymnon or the south coast line.
