After receiving the address the day before I looked on Google street view and had concerns. We were coming to Baton Rouge to watch an LSU game and once we drove to the address, we decided to book another place to stay.
We did not go in the property itself and only drove by. I am sure the pictures are a true representation of the INSIDE. Unfortunately, the area it is located in was one that I was not comfortable staying in while I had my daughter with me. I contacted the owner via the app to state that I was not comfortable with the area. The owner thought it was unfair that I judged the property by the area around it but I had to make a decision based on what I felt was right for my daughter and I. While the property does have cameras, alarm and a high fence around the property, it is not a secured gate. I gave the owner the opportunity to return some of our money and was not expecting a full refund. I received none which is fully within their rights.
Unfortunately, this is one of the problems with the VRBO app. You can only get a very general idea of where the property is. I understand that this is done for security reasons but it makes things like this difficult where neighborhoods can change within a few streets.
