Attractions in and around Ibbenbüren:
Natural monument "Dörenther cliffs" and "squatting woman"
The bizarre rock landscape "Dörenther cliffs" with the legendary "squatting woman" is located south of the city in the hiking and climbing paradise Teutoburg Forest. It can be reached from the trail parking lot on the B 219 (near summer toboggan run) on marked trails.
The following legend relates to the "crouching woman":
In ancient times, the tides of the sea often flowed deep into the country to the mountains.
In a hut at the foot of the Dörenther cliffs lived a woman with her children. When the flood approached, she took her children in her arms and carried her up the mountain. With horror she saw the water continue to rise. When it reached to her feet, she crouched down and ordered the children to step on her shoulders and began to pray
When she wanted to straighten up, she had become a boulder that rose out of the water and carried the children.
Mining - Hiking routes
The more than five-hundred-year history of mining in Ibbenbüren has also "over days". leave many traces. You can follow this on four different mining trails. At a length of 10 to 17 km, these trails take you over hill and dale of the "treasure-packed" & ldquo; Ibbenbüren Schafbergplatte and through various districts of Ibbenbüren. Optimal ways to experience Ibbenbüren in many different ways!
An accompanying booklet is available for each of the four mining trails. This includes not only the route but also information about the sights along the way. The flyers are available at the price of 2, - Euro in the shop on this website and also in the Tourist Information Ibbenbüren, Oststraße 28.
The & quot; Tödden & ldquo; Figs; these were traveling merchants working from a small region throughout northern Europe. And yet the Tödden themselves, their way of life, the development of their trade relations and their adventurous itineraries are almost forgotten today. At the same time, traces of the killing system can be found in many places: tangible in buildings, towns and businesses, but also in regional traditions and values.
Teutoschleifen hike
The & quot; Teuto loops & quot; lure the hiker into the Tecklenburger Land. This makes the seven paths in the Teutoburg Forest the northernmost premium route region in Germany. Oh, because there are no premium routes in Iceland, Norway and the North Pole, the Teuto loops are also the northernmost premium route region in the world. Like a string of pearls, the Teuto loops are lined up on Hermannsweg between Hörstel and Lienen. Track lengths between six and thirteen kilometers are extra family-friendly and easy on the joints. The mountains of the Teutoschleifen can all be climbed without oxygen equipment, but still has great prospects in Münsterland and Osnabrücker Land. Enthusiasts speak of the Tuscany of the Teutoburg Forest, because the northern foothills are hilly, lovelier, more playful than the southern regions.
Every Teuto bow has its special charm. On the Bevergerner Pattken you can admire the Nasse Dreieck, the traffic hub of German inland navigation. The forest path near Riesenbeck shines with its sky ladder, 256 steps on the way to the kingdom of heaven. While the Dörenther cliffs offer an impressive rock landscape and exciting panoramas in the midst of beautiful forests. The Tecklenburg mountain trail makes the pearl Tecklenburg sparkle. The canyon view near Lengerich surprises with a deep blue canyon. And with the holperdorper, it is & ndash; Holter dipolter & ndash; up and down on both sides of the Teutoburger Waldkamm. The Teutoschleife Heiliges Meer also takes you to the plains with a wonderful mixture of water, forest, moorland, wet meadows and heathland. The Teuto loops offer enchanting scenery, picturesque towns and exciting views & ndash; just the northernmost highlight of the PremiumWanderWelten.
