About this property
Oceanfront Condo - OBX - Early Bird Catches the Worm
GREAT DEAL on an OCEANFRONT 2-bedroom & 2-bathroom Condo in Rodanthe, NC at the Hatteras High Condos. Hatteras High is an intimate 12-unit well-maintained condo complex. This third-floor end-unit (8C) offers great views from any window in the condo. There is no elevator but there is an electric lift which is a wonderful way to save you carrying luggage and groceries up the stairs. This unit is top floor and offers freedom from the sound of footsteps walking above you. You will have the best of both worlds either watching the sunrise from your in-unit ocean facing covered deck or the sunset over the sound from the common area balcony right outside your door. Whichever way you choose, it is spectacularly beautiful. The unit features a full kitchen including an electric range, full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, glassware, and cutlery for 6. The kitchen is equipped for the cook in the family and the outdoor community grills are available for the barbecue master. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a private full bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin beds and is located near the second common area full bathroom. There is a queen size sleep sofa and a loveseat in the living room. The dining area seats 6 around a large wooden table. There is also a breakfast bar for eating or snacking. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers in the communal laundry which are available to guests at NO CHARGE.
A peaceful family environment, the Outer Banks provide many options for enjoying your vacation. Sandy beaches, surfing, kite boarding, dolphin tours and surf fishing await you on the Atlantic. The sound side offers jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing, offshore fishing, crabbing, cruising, and kayaking. The Rodanthe Pier for fishing is just a short walk down the beach from Hatteras High. The beach is also only a short walk on our boardwalk which provides easy walking and access to the beach with your beach paraphernalia. When you are tired of the sand, relax by the community pool with a book and your favorite beverage. If you are inclined to sightsee and explore, there is an abundance of activities available and things to see. Visit the Raleigh National Historic Site, Elizabethan Gardens and the outdoor drama, The Lost Colony. If you are a lighthouse fan, visit the Cape Hatteras, Currituck, Bodie Island, Ocracoke, and Roanoke Marshes Lighthouses. The historic Chicamacomico Life Saving Station is within walking distance. Take a day trip to Ocracoke Island which includes a free 20-minute ferry ride across the channel from Hatteras Island. Ocracoke is where the infamous pirate Blackbeard took safe haven. Visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial and Museum where aviation was born by two bicycle riding brothers from Ohio. You can also take to the sky yourself at Jockey Ridge State Park where hang gliding lessons are available. The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum displays artifacts from historic shipwrecks, unique beach finds and locally carved ships’ models. You can also visit the North Carolina Aquarium in historic Manteo and visit the waterfront with its many shops and eateries and see the "fresh catches of the day" brought back by the local commercial fishermen. If you are a nature lover, the Outer Banks is your paradise. OBX is home to Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, and Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge – Cape Hatteras National Seashore is located between the Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe. The 6000-acre refuge is a haven for more than 360 species of birds. From spring to autumn, a large variety of wading, shore and upland birds can be viewed. Drive north to Corolla, where you can see the wild horses, take outback tours, and visit the 4-wheeling drive area with 26 miles of beach and dunes for beach off-roading. The area also offers tennis, golf, spas, bi-plane, and helicopter air tours. Afraid of heights you can spend time shopping at the Tanger outlets. Take some time to visit Serendipity, the house where the 2008 motion picture Nights in Rodanthe starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane was filmed on location right here in Rodanthe, a leisurely walk northward from Hatteras High. Ask someone or look for the house with the blue shutters.
