Not every day is a bathing day - so you may follow Kurt Tucholsky's footsteps and walk on Prussian paths in Rheinsberg. Or you can discover the baroque architecture of the nearby town of Neustrelitz. Neustrelitz was founded in 1733 as the residence of the dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The Ducal Castle Gardens, the Orangery, the Mecklenburg State Theater, the Castle Church and the newly renovated town church with the third highest tower in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are worth seeing. The view from its viewing platform gives an unforgettable impression of the square market square with its eight star-shaped streets going out in all directions. A stroll through the streets of Neustrelitz reminds at every turn of the heyday of the city in the 19th Century. The extraordinary, late baroque city complex is considered unique in Europe. The heart of Neustrelitz's old town still beats here today with its pedestrian zone, shops, restaurants and city museum.
