The Space:
Original in 1868, the Liberty House was the second home on East Liberty Street built for John Hernandez. Listed in Savannah’s city directories as a confectioner from St. Augustine, Florida, Mr. Hernandez is believed to have raised his family of four children in the home before selling the property in retirement. Since its construction, this authentic Savannah townhome has been meticulously cared for boasting original stone fireplaces, stair banisters, hard oak flooring, and incredible custom trim work.
Enter the property one of two ways, either from the ascending staircase on Liberty Street or through the private off-street parking at the rear of the property. As you enter the townhome you will be immediately awestruck by the preserved colonial past that is captured throughout the home. In the front of the home, you will find the formal living room with floor-to-ceiling windows, an original fireplace, high ceilings, and William and Mary furniture. Directly off this space is the formal dining room with a large hardwood dining table set for 6, a colonial-inspired chandelier, and stunning built-in bookshelves.
Along the main hallway connecting the townhome from front to back find the main floor powder room along with beautiful artwork. Follow the hallway to the rear of the property where a modernized gourmet galley kitchen awaits you. This fully appointed kitchen boasts high-end appliances, stone countertops, custom cabinetry, and a butler’s nook. Find everything you need to cook delicious meals including cooking utensils, pots, pans, and dishware. A microwave and a coffee maker are provided.
Directly off the kitchen is the den presenting a comfortable sofa, chairs, and smart TV perfect for all your streaming needs. Step out on the back terrace and follow the staircase down to the shared garden patio. The ample room allows you to spread out and enjoy beautiful Savannah mornings and evenings under the shade of live oak trees, cathedral spires, and high privacy walls.
On the third level of the building find the two private bedrooms. In the master suite enjoy a brand-new king mattress, personal fireplace wrapped in granite, closet and dresser storage, and shuttered windows original to the home. The second bedroom features a new queen mattress, fireplace, and closet and dresser storage. Both private bedrooms feature their own bathrooms, well-appointed with everything you need from bath towels, hand towels, shampoo, and body wash.
Working remotely during your stay? The townhome has ample desk space and high-speed WIFI perfect for video conferencing and multi-tasking.

The Neighborhood:

History abounds with sites like Harper Fowlkes House, Savannah Theatre, Telfair Museums, Beach Institute of African American Culture, and many more.

Check out The Original Pinkie Masters for a cash-only bar with great deals and incredible staff. Need the perfect cocktail? Slide over to the Artillery Bar, a sophisticated speakeasy in a restored armory with imaginative cocktails and an extensive bourbon list. Want to enjoy your drinks in a funky art-inspired bar/restaurant? Check out Savoy Society. A homey bar/restaurant where pups are even welcomed!
Looking to do some local shopping or curb that sweet tooth? Take the short walk over to the historic City Market and enjoy four blocks of storefronts and restaurants including Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, The Little Crown by Pie Society, and Tree House Savannah, an incredible spot with a rooftop balcony, live music, and more. All right in the City Market!
Want to take it all in at once while riding or biking? We are just minutes away from Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah and Savannah Bike Tours.
Getting around is easy with walkable streets, bike rentals, and uber service. Jump on Savannah’s public transit system with the Abercorn & Liberty SB stop just a 1-minute walk from Liberty Garden. Looking to travel via the Savannah River? Try out the Savannah Belles Ferries to see the beautiful skyline of Savannah from the riverfront.

Getting Around:
There is a FREE shuttle that picks up just 2 blocks away at Drayton St. and Perry St.. This will take you up and down the Historic District and can drop you off at City Market. Otherwise we recommend using Uber/Lyft as parking around town can be pretty chaotic and is usually less than $5 to get anywhere. There is also a free City "uber" called The Downtowner. You can download the app on your phone and get picked up for free as well :)

Showing a bit of wear but still very nice.
If you love walking the streets of Savannah but like to stay away from the noise and crowds, this is the place. We stayed three nights on our way to Hilton Head. Savannah never disappoints. The home had everything you need for your stay. The kitchen and rear patio were our favorites. Some pieces of furniture need attention. I wish I read the information regarding the bedroom with the attached bath. The King Bedroom bath is actually down the hall. It ended up not being a huge issue. It could use a something in the room to hang clothing. The beds were super comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.

A perfect home away from home in Savannah.
We really enjoyed ours stay at Liberty house. The house was built in the 1800s and the furniture fits the style but with all the modern kitchen appliances and finishing. Located right in downtown it is really easy to walk to all of the sights, restaurants, cafes and more. The place is nice and clean perfect for family and friends. Brandon and Chase were great hosts and very quick in all communications. The convenient free parking and rest entrance into the garden was a real bonus as parking in Savannah can be a nightmare at times.

Girls getaway
The property was very centrally located and within easy walking distance to most attractions in the historic district. The house was furnished nicely and clean. Hosts were very accommodating and responded quickly to texts. We would definitely stay again!

Beautiful Home in the Heart of Historic District
Stayed here for a mother-daughter trip and the house was beautiful and very clean. The beds are memory foam (I believe) and exceptionally comfortable. Plenty of pillows and spare blankets if needed. The central heating worked well, but the floors stay chilly in December so bring slippers! Lots of beautiful antiques, fragile books, and older artwork, so I personally wouldn't recommend bringing young children here. The house is in a great location for walking to several restaurants and historic sites, but Liberty Street can be noisy at times. Being an older home, its not very well insulated from outside noise. It did quiet down significantly around 9 pm, but you could hear the occasional group being loud as they walked by. If you're used to city noise then this property will seem peaceful. The immediate area surrounding this home is much quieter than those closer to the riverfront. Having a driveway was an added bonus, but the approach is a little steep for low cars. We had to baby step one tire at a time to avoid scraping our front end. Still beats looking for parking! Overall, we had a wonderful time staying here and would happily return! Its exactly as pictured and even more charming in person. The positives far outweigh any "negatives" of staying here. Its perfect for those wanting an affordable stay in an historic home. And for the paranormal enthusiasts, we did not have any spooky experiences while in the house.
