We’ve taken our 6 kids all over the US and stayed in many rentals over the years including dozens of different ones on the Oregon Coast. Doolittle suited our needs very well. It had plenty of room for our large family, a nice collection of family friendly games and movies, plenty of essentials so we didn’t have to run to the market for paper towels or dish soap, and an easy walk to the beach (for us… it is a bit of a jaunt across the not very busy highway and down a few dozen steps). We usually stay in Rockaway or Lincoln City but we decided to split the difference and try Netarts this time and we would totally come back. We loved the waveless beach for our little kids and proximity to some of the best clamming on the coast for the big kids.
The negatives are nitpicky and honestly weren’t big issues for us, but they might be for others so… First, this is a manufactured home and the foundation is pretty bad. When we first entered it was really noticeably sinking in places and we felt as though we were walking on a cruise ship or something. But we adjusted pretty quickly and it didn’t bother anyone past the first night. Second, I happen to be horribly allergic to cats. We like to travel with our dog so we generally pick places that are pet friendly. Generally that means just “dog friendly” but this place DEFINITELY has had cats. Lots and lots of cats. And though it was visibly very clean, there was cat dander lurking somewhere in large amounts. My allergies were off the hook bad until I took medication. Luckily that helped enough and it was fine overall. And last, the walls were pretty thin and we could hear anything and everything.
But overall, it was a great stay and we’d come back.
