About this property

Late Winter Vaca! 6BR-12beds-3.5ba-A getaway & kid fun-Arcade/ping-pong/foosball

Do you need a lake place where you can gather with family & friends?

- Furnished with appliances, cookware, dishes, and outdoor grill
- Ample room and tables for quilters/crafters
- Plenty of room to relax and share a meal & cool ones with friends

... all with the enjoyment of being on a Minnesota lake. This one is right up I-94 only 2.5 hours from downtown Mpls and less than 1.5 hours from Fargo. Head out on the highway and be a guest in our home.

And come back in the summer and enjoy a stay on Clitherall Lake, a fairly quiet lake with a 6’-13' water clarity rating and is great for swimming, fishing, & watersports. (Bring water shoes. Some like to wear them because of the rocks and/or mussels.)

You'll have access at the front door with a keypad using the last four numbers of the phone number provided, then press pound. If you run into trouble, press the Ring-Camera doorbell, and we should be able to help you out remotely.

Concerned about the What-Will-The-Kids-Do-If-It-Rains-All-Week scenario? Our home has books, board-games, ping-pong, foosball, and even a stand-up arcade Pac-Man game!

Comforts of Home:
Pack less and use our washer and dryer. The 16-place dinnerware set will allow you to entertain and the smoothie/margarita blender, full set of cookware, coffee maker, iron, hair-dryers, etc. will add some of the comforts of home. We’ll probably even have some ice in the freezer to start your stay with your favorite beverage. So, although we’ll have a few of the necessities, if you forgot something or run out, you’ll only be 5 miles away from a Dollar General, grocery store, and several bar & grills, etc.

And bring your laptop if you need to work remotely. Our 40MB Wi-Fi seems to work in a pinch.

Activities:
Bring your fishing rods. This is a pretty good walleye lake. Enjoy the playing in the water, our swim mat, and use our kayaks and paddle-boards. We have a few lifejackets, kids and adults (adjustable between the approx. 30”-52” chest range). Some like to bring golf clubs with several nearby courses. We’ve also got Corn-Hole boards, a fire-ring (with cooking grate) down by the lake, and room to run and play.

Bedrooms:
Let’s talk sleeping arrangements – Each bed has sheets and bedding:
- Four quintessential bedrooms (each w/ TV),
- one private den bedroom (with a fantastic view),
- one "bunk-bed room" with two sets of bunks (where maybe the teens that want to sleep inside can have their privacy),

And the home still has interior locations for a quiet cup of morning coffee while the rest sleep! Or enjoy it on the deck, listening to the Loons.

Can't wait to have you over!

Great Place for Our Group
We had a great time at this house on the lake. It was the perfect set up for our guy's weekend with lots of beds, plenty of room to spread out and a nice big kitchen. We all thought it was even nicer than we expected. Loved the game room and plenty of table space for games and dining. I'm sure we will be back.

Amazing stay!
We had 15 of us in total stay here for a week. We had an absolute blast! The cabin is perfect for a large group! There were all the amenities a person could need- a lilypad, paddleboards and kayaks for the water, a nice coffee machine, a dishwasher, comfortable beds, ping pong table, arcade machine, foosball, kids picnic table, life jackets, and all the kitchen supplies you could need. Plus, it was just a short drive (5 minutes) to Battle Lake where there is a grocery store, gas station, liquor store, bait shop, ice cream shop, brewery, etc. The cabin is beautiful and very well kept. Definitely 10 out of 10 would recommend for a getaway.

About the host

Hosted by Douglas Straus

Host profile image
We, Doug and Suzanne Straus have seven children (with six of the seven grown and gone) and, although we faced the standard parenting challenges, we loved raising them.

We fondly remember family vacations and set out to create a family-friendly venue to allow you the opportunity to experience the same.

Why they chose this property

We purposefully looked for a spacious property where friends and family would enjoy a relaxing time at the lake. It had the number of rooms and bathrooms to accommodate large families or multiple families. It also had a large enough yard for outdoor games and a nightly bonfire.

What makes this property unique

We then purposefully set up the home thinking "what if a husband/wife had young kids they wanted sleeping across the hall" or "what if the house was going to be pretty full and the parents would rather have their kids in their same room" or "what if there were a group of teens that didn't want to sleep outside the house" or "what if there were a bunch of teen boys that loved the idea of 'roughing it' in the bunkhouse by the lake".

Then it seemed fitting, with the ample room available, to provide fun if the weather was inclement so we set up a ping-pong table, a 55" foosball table, and an old Pac-Man arcade game.

We hope this location brings families closer and creates lasting memories.
