Our month went by quickly, but it has been wonderful. Steven and Som have created such a beautiful slice of simple, sustainable living in this small village. This was definitely not a "hotel stay"; This was a coming home.
From our ride to the property from the airport, we already knew this place wasn't just going to be a hotel. I loved coming to our villa the first night and having fresh coconuts from the property, cracked open and ready to drink. It really set the tone for the rest of the month.
The villa itself was quaint and comfortable. We had everything we needed for me to get meals put together. I'd say the only thing that I didn't expect was no hot water, but it was far from a problem. It's hot in Thailand and the cool showers were perfection.
To say the village property is "beautiful" is a bit of an understatement. This property has been planned, manicured, and maintained for 30+ years and it is a pure jungle sanctuary. Tons of plumeria, hibiscus, coconut palms, banana trees, and more. This place is a nature/plant lovers dream.
We were definitely happy with our first month at Big Trees Village and looking forward to more time spent there.
