About this property

Visit and relax in Tenakee Springs

Relax in a unique, small-town-Alaska setting and make memories. Located on Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska, with ocean and mountain views, this cozy remodeled home has 5 beds to comfortably sleep 6 people. Keep an eye out for seals, sea lions, orcas or humpback whales cruising the inlet. Watch as bald eagles and great blue herons hunt for food at the water’s edge. Out the back windows you might catch deer grazing, or spot the occasional bear snitching berries. Enjoy hiking the trails, or skirt the edge of the beach at low tide where shore crabs, sculpins, sea stars and anemones hide out. Tenakee's Hot Springs Bath is right across the street. This home away from home has a shower, washer and dryer. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, gas oven/range, dinnerware, and kitchen supplies including a coffee maker, toaster, microwave and fryer. Books and games are tucked away in the living room along with the TV/DVD player. A haven from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is waiting here for you.

We live in Tenakee Springs, with our 3 kids, and are excited to share our corner of the world with travelers. We enjoy getting outside in the summer and fall to fill our pantry and freezers with fish, meat, berries and greens. Gardening, foraging, woodwork, commercial trolling, beach combing, low tiding, home school and hiking are a few other things that keep us busy. Our home has been available as a vacation rental since July of 2022. Since then, we've had the chance to meet some really nice people, and see the beauty and charm of this area afresh through their eyes.

Why they chose this property

Whale watching has always been #1 on my list of favorite things here where we live. Sitting on the front deck with a cup of coffee, watching the world go by or reading a book is a close second. Neighbors stop in to touch base, and say hello, and even those that don't get along, will step in to lend a hand when help is needed.
