Comfy vintage cottage in beautiful small town--7mins from everything.

Whether you are in town for a wedding at Providence Cotton Mill or Catawba Farms; you've come to NC to find the perfect sofa at the famed Hickory Furniture Mart; or you are attending an event at Lenoir-Rhyne University or the Hickory Metro Convention Center; whatever brings you to the beautiful Catawba Valley, you will love settling into our Victory House to relax and unwind. Arrive home to enjoy dinner on the back deck or log into your Netflix account to stream your favorite show before bed. Slip off your shoes, whip up a quick dinner in the cozy kitchen (or order from our favorite Japanese restaurant close by!), and settle into the comfy couch after a satisfying day in small-town America. Wake up rested and refreshed and enjoy the well-stocked coffee bar as you prepare breakfast in the fully-equipped kitchen or head out to one of the local cafes. Our home is near downtown Newton and only a few minutes' drive to Hickory, Conover, and Maiden via Hwy 321, I-40, and US 70. You will be thirty minutes from Lake Norman State Park; 40 minutes to South Mountain State Park (hiking, trout fishing and picnicking); 45 minutes to Charlotte (airport and shopping); less than an hour to Bank of America Stadium (home of the Charlotte Hornets) and concerts at the Coliseum; an hour to Boone/Blowing Rock ski resorts/outlet shopping; and 1.5 hours to Biltmore House in Asheville. Our home is the perfect overnight stopover on your way to just about anywhere!

Wedding Weekend

My husband and I rented the cottage during our 2 1/2 weeks in Conover. The weekend spent in this cottage was wonderful. It was quiet and relaxing after the excitement of our wedding. If anyone is looking for a comfortable and cozy location for a weekend getaway…this hidden gem is perfect.

Everything about this home was wonderful. Super clean, comfy, and well stcoked with a great location. The delicious muffins were a nice touch. Highly recommend!

What a cozy comfy cottage!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We had everything we needed, and more, for a comfortable stay. It was very clean and nicely decorated. It’s only a few minutes from downtown and easy to find. Will choose again if I’m traveling to the area.

Everything was perfect!

We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. The location was great with easy access to shopping and restaurants. The house was super clean and had every utensil you would ever need plus a complete spice cabinet. The wifi was over 400mbps download too. We will stay here again when we visit the area. Thanks!

Cannot wait to stay again!

My husband and I loved our stay in this beautiful little home! Not only was the place warm and welcoming, but it had everything we could need during our stay. There were extra toiletries, a fully furnished kitchen, a nice game selection, a coffee station, and access to streaming services on the tv. The host even had fresh muffins waiting in the kitchen when we arrived! We will definitely be booking another stay here soon!!

Comfy and cozy cottage in Newton

Visited Newton for Thanksgiving and family that lived in Conover. The cottage was easy to find and just like it stated. My husband, brother and law, and myself were able to hang out, sleep and get ready with ample space and it was also great for our pet with the large outdoor space!! If traveling to Conover/Hickory will definitely stay here again!

Wedding Night Stay

Even though Hurricane Helene tried to ruin my son's wedding, we still pulled off a perfect nuptial and it was nice to know that he and his bride had a place with power and running water to stay afterwards! Thanks so much!

Awesome Experience

The house was amazingly clean and very cozy. It was equipped with the important necessities for guest/s. Great communication with the host. There were a few personal touches that made the stay extra special, like freshly baked muffins and a personal note welcoming my family. I would definitely book again.

Very comfy stay but if you are private people and do not want to be watched during your stay then you might reconsider this property. They have camera on front and back porch plus the neighboring house has cameras on every corner of their home. Felt very uneasy sitting outside to relax knowing that we were being watched and even heard. My husband and I wanted a private time away from family and kids but this felt like we were no TV alone if we wanted to sit anywhere outside.

This house was so cute and so clean! There isn't much to do near the neighborhood, but we were attending a wedding in Maiden and it was a great location to both the wedding and Lake Norman. The house was immaculate ( no exaggeration!) The keyless entry was perfect! Can't say enough about this adorable little house!

Great stay; loved the personal touches

This cottage was cute and comfy, with lots of little updates and personal touches that made our stay extra special. Starting with the chalkboard welcome sign, we felt from the beginning like things were set up just for us. The homemade blueberry muffins were a sweet touch, as were all the little necessities in the kitchen (coffee, filters, Brita in the fridge, etc.) and the bathrooms (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer). We had a bit of bad weather during our stay and ended up with a few extra hours just hanging in the house. The living room proved quite comfy for watching a movie while we waited for the rain to end. Finally, we are very grateful to Angela for agreeing to allow us to bring both of our dogs. They were very happy to be with us, enjoying Bark at the Park for a Hickory Crawdads game, as well as a little hike in the Lake Norman area. This cottage was just what we needed. We highly recommend it for a Catawba County visit!

Very cute cottage with a fire pit in the backyard! Quite neighborhood and a short walk from the historical train station. Was perfect for our stay, as my brother lives a few miles away and had a houseful for my nephew's wedding. If we need to stay again, we will be sure to reserve again! Thank you!

Why they chose this property

We love our hometown, especially the slow pace and simple joys, and we are so glad you are coming! One of our area's most beautiful venues is the Providence Cotton Mill in Maiden, NC. When our daughter was married there in 2021, we realized families and friends traveling here for weddings would find it comforting and convenient to have a "home away from home" where they could prepare for the wedding and then unwind afterwards. Our sweet, calming Victory House fits the bill perfectly. We hope you love it, too.
