About this property

Spacious Lodge with Private Waterfront on Great Moose Lake

NEW LISTING - Majestic 4,500+ square foot four-season lake house, directly on Great Moose Lake! Sprawling over four levels, "the Lodge" features two kitchens, two large living/family rooms, seven (7) well-appointed bedrooms, and two (2) full bathrooms. The centerpiece of the house is a vast great room with lofted ceilings, a full wall of windows, a sauna, and sliders to a private, elevated patio overlooking the lake. An indoor fireplace in the great room and a second outdoor fireplace on the patio provide a cozy atmosphere for entertaining. This house is ideally situated in the middle of the eastern shore of Great Moose Lake, with deep water access and spectacular panoramic views. Natural granite steps lead down from the patio to a private waterfront and dock.

Every room of the house has been recently furnished and refreshed. Both kitchens are fully equipped for your culinary adventures. [Please note that new, stainless steel appliances have been ordered to replace the existing refrigerators, stoves, and range hoods, in both kitchens, so those pictures will be updated after the new appliances are installed.] The living and sleeping quarters are tastefully decorated, in classic Maine woodland style. A washer, dryer and dishwasher are provided for your convenience. Air conditioning units and a new boiler will keep you comfortable in any weather.

Great Moose Lake (3,584 acres) is a large, very clean, beautiful lake, ideal for swimming, boating, and watersports of all kinds. Whether by boat or from your private dock, Great Moose Lake is renowned for its superb fishing. Brown Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Perch, Chain Pickerel, Cusk, Salmon and Brown Bullhead call the lake home. Great Moose Lake is also a unique area for wildlife and bird watching, as the lake supports several rare species, including some of the best habitat for the black tern and bald eagle, as well as high quality habitat for waterfowl, wading birds and wintering deer. Nearby, you'll find ample opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, ice fishing, horseback riding, apple picking, and many other outdoor activities for all seasons. If you love whitewater rafting, North Country Rivers and Northeast Whitewater Rafting and Moose Tours are both about 45 minutes away. Or just relax on the patio or dock and listen to the loons. If you fancy a day trip, head to Portland or Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park (both about 90 minutes) or Bangor (about 40 minutes).

Local fare includes several good breakfast and casual options, including Shelby's Cafe and Bakery, Mammie's Grill, and Hometown Pizza. A short drive (about 10 miles) to Pittsfield or Palmetto provides several dining options, from fast food to higher end fare. Upscale dining and even greater variety can be found in Waterville and Skowhegan, about 30 minutes away. Several grocery stores and Walmart are within a short drive, so stocking up for your stay will be no problem.

Please note that bedding/linens and towels are provided for a modest fee. If you prefer to bring your own linens, please let us know and we will remove the fee. Out of respect for our neighbors, we request that guests not have loud parties or otherwise engage in noisy or disruptive behavior. Finally, although we love animals, our son has a serious dog and cat allergy that is triggered by residual dander, and so regretfully we cannot allow pets.

[Please note that the driveway, as pictured, is currently dirt. However, we have a company scheduled to pave the driveway in May, weather-permitting, so if your stay is in June or later that work should be complete. Also, we are continuing to post pictures as various renovations are completed, so please check back for new photos!]
