At Hakuna Matata we are selective with who rents the space. We want you to enjoy and appreciate the space and community as much as we do. We consider you our personal guests.
We live a couple blocks away. So, we are available if you need to use a paddle board, big cooler, beach chairs, umbrella, borrow a cup of sugar (or tequila) give you directions.
It’s a small beach town. Having said that, if you still think that you want to stay at Hakuna Matata, home of The Hidden Tiki Lounge, please tell us a little bit about yourself.
We want to share our unique little diamond in the rough beach town with you. It will be an adventure.
* Please do not wear shoes in the house. We have white floors and would like to keep them that way.
* The apartment may not suitable for children under 4 years old. We have a a lot of artwork that is not really conducive to small children. Not to mention the open flight of stairs.
* No animals
* Beach chairs, beach mats/blankets and beach towels are provided. (In the green cabinet by the garage door) Please do not take the brown bath towels, sheets, comforters or blankets to the beach.
* Be tidy and respectful of the apartment and the property.
* Guests are more than welcome to use the back yard and patio. This space is shared with the upstairs rental.
* “Sand Ain’t Dirt” This is a beach house. Expect to carry some sand in the house. For your own comfort (and our clean up) please take your shoes off and use the hose and foot towels by each entrance. Going to bed after a few drinks with sandy feet is fun. Waking up sober in a sandy bed, not so much.
* No smoking. So, if that’s your thing, sand buckets are located in the driveway.
* Miller Beach is a party town. Designated guests are encouraged to party. However, we restrict this to the guests in the booking.
* The bluetooth speaker gets pretty loud. Most of the neighbors are fun beach people (for the most part) But, please be considerate and shut it down at midnight. There is always that one “beachy” neighbor.
* Please DO NOT use the tiki glasses on the shelf. They are for decoration only.
* Please do not flush anything other than poop, pee, toilet paper (or puke)in the toilet. You only have one. Don’t wreck it for everyone.
* Please clean the grill and turn off propane after cooking. It doesn’t have to be spotless, at least get the chunks of food off.
* Please close the windows if there is any risk of rain.
* Please do not take any breakable dishes or glasses outside. * Alcohol is not permitted on our beaches. So be sure to hide your cocktails/beer in a plastic cup, insulated cup, etc or the patrolling beach cops may confiscate your cooler and give you a big fat RUDE fine.
* We have a carry out policy for garbage on the beach. Take a garbage bag with you. Drop your trash in a garbage bin when you leave the beach. Garbage bags are under the kitchen sink
* If something breaks, please don’t try to fix it. Please call us. We will get someone there to fix it. If you leave it as a surprise for us later, you may lose your security deposit.
