About the Skälsnäs estate
On our 100-hectare peninsula in the well-known Helga lake in Småland, with a rich fish population, forests, rich animal stock and water sports, we have 2 idyllic houses for rent: the guest house with lake view, 100 meters from the lake, and the lake house right on the lake. The peninsula offers everything a nature lover longs for. You can fish anywhere around the Skälsnäs peninsula, we own 380 hectares of fishing rights. Horses and sheep graze on a property that was once owned by Gustav Wasa. Those who enjoy nature, the many animals, water and forest and want to turn their backs on the hectic pace of everyday life will find the right thing here.
From Skälsnäs you can choose the most diverse experiences. Stay a week or more and take day trips into the nature of the beautiful Småland countryside, go to the sauna, go on extensive fishing trips, rent a canoe for quiet trips along the banks and to the many small lakes and rivers, and experience Sweden's southernmost lock in Åby with the beautiful lakes and natural canals behind. The latter can be done particularly well with the Thor steamer, with its original steam engine from 1887 - an experience!
Fishing waters
We have 150 ha of water for fishing around the Skälsnäs peninsula, in the northern part of Helgasjön, after "Åsnen" Småland's second largest lake with 55 km² of fish water and part of "Mörrumsåns" water system. The Helga lake is fed by springs and moor areas of the southern Småland highlands. The water is of high quality. The lake is quite deep, especially in the northern part, with a depth of up to 26 m. Conifers and deciduous forest grow down to the shores of the lake.
fish
There are many crayfish (crayfish, signal crayfish) in Helgasjön, also good for the perch, which can develop large and vigorously as a result. There are also plenty of pike and zander. Bream, tench, roach (roach), eel, burbot (truffle) and bleak (arbor) also occur a lot. There are also brown trout in Helgasjön, although not as often.
fishing
In winter you can fish perch and pike from the ice with special equipment. Catching burbot (truffles) can also be attractive in winter. When the ice melts, the pike fishing season begins, especially in spring and autumn. During the summer, trolling for walleye, pike, perch and possibly even brown trout is very worthwhile. Perch, bream, roach (roach) and bleak are best caught with a fishing rod. Crayfish are caught in August and September, and there are plenty of them around our peninsula.
Fishing Rules
The fishing license to be bought enables you to fish anywhere in Helgasjön even outside of our waters. The minimum size when you catch a pike, brown trout or pikeperch is 40 cm. Pikeperch may be caught from June to September. There are fishing bans in certain sensitive areas in Helgasjön.
