About this property

Adorable Teeny Tiny Cabin w/ Amazing Views

Discover the simple beauty and tranquility of Living (Teeny!) Tiny while surrounded by soft, green hills. Sip a cup of coffee while gazing at greenery from the living room or deck. Lounge in a hammock, meditate, write, do yoga, cook in the outdoor kitchen, explore the land, or relax by the fire pit. Enjoy an ideal view of the gorgeous sunset. Marvel at the dazzling stars through the skylight as you drift off to sleep. Let this mystical oasis help your soul reconnect to the beauty in simplicity and in nature.

About the house:
This unique (teeny!) tiny house was custom designed as an experiment in extreme minimalist living. Its footprint is 8x12 feet! The atmosphere emits a cozy, woodland, and mystical feel. Come to reflect, relax, enjoy the views and sounds of nature, and discover how little space people really need to live well. I have lived in it for the past year. It was sort of an experiment to see just how minimalist I could design a space and live, and how many amenities for normal living I can pack into such a small space. The results were quite successful! I added a huge deck (3x the footprint of the house!) to add some outdoor living space as well. I mostly cook outdoors during the summer months.

The entire house, deck, and fire pit area is private, and is yours exclusively when you stay. The rest of the 80 acre property is shared with the family who lives there (far away on the other side of the grove) as well as with guests of the other two tiny houses nearby which are also rented out (these houses are included in the pictures); however, privacy fences obscure the views of the other tiny houses.

**Please be aware that like most tiny housers, I have a composting toilet—it’s environmentally friendly, saves a ton of water, and I love it! (I also built it!). But please be conscious of this fact before you book, and know to expect it. I know this type of thing isn’t for everyone, though most people seem to adapt just fine. If you are unsure about it, just ask. :)

**Additionally, the height of the shower from floor to ceiling is about 6'0; just know that when you book.

More Details:
The footprint is only 8x12, and the porch is collectively 288 sq. ft. This house, despite its small size, has everything you need to live; I lived in it for over a year, and had everything I needed. It has a 31”x 36”shower, composting toilet, a lofted "small full" bed (48” wide, 78" long), a futon/couch (sides fold down into a bed). The kitchen includes: a 19”-diameter galvanized steel sink (originally a flower pot) , 2 portable induction cook-top burners, pull-out drawers for storage, storage shelves for cans, spices storage on the ceiling, mini fridge (4.5 cu ft), combination microwave/convection oven, one 2 qt. saucepan, 2 frying pans (1 large, 1 medium), and collapsible food containers. It also has a foldable and stow-away custom-made counter-top that folds out to create a total of 8 feet of counter space (also can be used as a bar to eat at). This house has a ladder (with wide steps) that folds up to the wall when you want more room downstairs. Heated floors on the bottom floor are a luxurious addition. This house has a mini-split AC/heat unit, to as well as a propane fireplace for ambiance and supplemental heat. A hammock chair is stored on the wall and can be pulled down in seconds to provide alternative seating/views out the window (you can also sleep in it!). A huge deck (3x the footprint of the house!) is the cherry on top, that adds lots of outdoor living to the space. And in the summer time, cooking exclusively in the outdoor kitchen is a must! Come experience this minimalist paradise with amazing views.

The entire tiny house/surrounding outdoor area/deck/firepit is yours during your stay! For food: You have access to all kitchenware, myriad spices, anything in the pantry, cupboards or fridge, coffee/coffee maker, etc. Coffee and creamer is provided. There are also various condiments in the fridge.

The grocery store and local pizza joint are an 8-minute drive east, there's a yummy burger dive (Bob's Bar) 5 miles south, and a large variety of restaurants is a 30-minute drive East. If you're staying for three days or more, and enjoy cooking new meals at home (like I do!), I can also arrange to have Blue Apron deliver meals for you to make. More details about that below.

You'll also have access to the entire property: 80 acres! Feel free to go exploring--except the space with the cows. Don't go there. But overall, just let loose and be free! Hike the big hill by my house; the view is truly unparalleled. Or you may just prefer to sit on the back deck and take in the lovely views from there, or walk the trail circling two acres of the property.

You may see other people around the property, as the tiny houses about 150 and 200 feet north of the teeny tiny house are also rented out (this is included in a few pictures). Both other tiny houses are screened from view with privacy fence sections. I live in a tiny house North on the property, and my friends Audrey and John live with their family in the house behind the grove of trees (about 400 feet north). If I'm not there, she will be around at all times to answer any questions you might have.

During the late Fall and Winter months, this will be a peaceful oasis; there won't be people working outside much. During the temperate months of the year, this is a working farm, so expect us to be investing in and improving the land and property during the day; we may be working on the garden or food forest or the pond. Let us know if you’d like to get your hands dirty by helping John with some permaculture work (he does this on the weekends and in the late afternoon/early evening on week days)--or just relax!

1.5 miles from my tiny house is Powder Creek Lake--which is great for fishing or kayaking/canoeing. And I do have a canoe on the property for your use! You will need to have a vehicle with a hitch (1 7/8” ball ) to transport the canoe on my utility trailer to and from the lake. But just let me know in advance and I will get it set up for you! Also, I don’t know if you can ice-fish on it in the winter; I would assume so!

If you prefer a real wood fire, free to use the fire-pit next to my house with chairs and wine-glass holders to relax.

Transportation to the property:
It’s a good idea to have a 4-wheel drive vehicle, as the 4-mile-long gravel road out to my place can get tricky to drive on if it’s raining or during the winter if it snows and plows have not come through yet. If it snows, I do have someone come out and plow my driveway; yet, once in the past when the snow was extremely deep and city plows hadn’t yet come through to clear the main road, my plow guy couldn’t make it out to my property with his bobcat until the next day. This has only happened once in the last four years. But just be aware that there is a chance of being snowed in during your stay, and be okay with that before you book in the winter time! Having said that, if you have a 4-wheel-drive, high clearance vehicle (I.e. a truck or SUV), you shouldn’t have any problems. I have a Jeep Cherokee and it has been perfect in the snow!

Peaceful Stay
The Teeny Tiny house is a very peaceful place to get a taste of living simpler. It is a tiny oasis that has all that you need when you are looking for a secluded and serene place to unwind. The host was a phone call away if needed and checked in to ensure we were enjoying our stay. We would recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the busyness of life to enjoy the stars and quiet of nature.

Experience a Tiny house in the quiet of the country!
We always wondered about the tiny house movement and whether or not it was something we could do, and this property allowed us that experience! The location in the country was perfect and the house afforded good views. Gravel roads to the house were well maintained. Cooling and heating systems were great and we loved the small gas fireplace. Plenty of cooking options with microwave inside, asks two grills outside on the deck. Communication with the property owner was fantastic and she came and greeted us when we arrived! We loved the stay Ana all the activities at Ponca state park! We would do it again in a heart beat!

In 2016, I began the crazy but incredible journey of building my first tiny house. After that, I decided to build a teeny-tiny-house as a challenge to myself to design a fully-livable, spatially economic, and cozy and cute tiny house--and this is the result! It is absolutely amazing to stay in the tranquility of the countryside hills in this cozy, teeny tiny house.

Some hobbies of mine are hiking Ponca State park, reading, listening to audiobooks, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I love having people from all walks in life come and experience my tiny house and the beauty and peace of the land. I enjoy talking to my guests when possible--but I also completely understand just wanting a quiet retreat with no other human interactions. Just let me know which you'd prefer when you book, and I will honor that. Looking forward to having you!

Why they chose this property

Our property is so peaceful! Away from the city, away from the stress. You can see the stars at night and listen to the birds chirp in the morning. I also have two very friendly cats who would love a little pet if you have a second. And we have cows, for a few summer months only. There is a lot of farm land surrounding us, and some beautiful gardens next to the tiny house. We have a good little walking path that circles the property--maybe .3 miles long. You can also hike to the top of the hill east of my house to see a beautiful landscape of rolling hills. Such a tranquil, remote setting, but only an 8-minute drive into town, where you'll find a few restaurants, a grocery store, gas stations, and all the basics you'll need.

I highly recommend visiting Ponca State Park and hiking the trails there. It is beautiful! I've also seen people biking along the roads in the park.

We are far out into the countryside, so if you like off-roading or want to bring your snowmobile or snowshoes in the winter, it is perfect for those types of activities. I also have a canoe you can take to the nearby lake (it's on a small trailer, if you have a hitch and 1 3/4 ball to pull it), and lawn games in the summer (a corn hole set, bocce ball, and various other games).

About my community: We are a few friends living in community together on the Food for Rest property outside of Ponca, NE. This Tiny House is about 150 feet West of another tiny house. It is also about 200 feet southwest of another tiny house (these houses may or may not be rented out during your stay). Strategically-placed sections of privacy fence effectively screen the other tiny houses from view, however. The land-owners live in the original farmhouse on the property (about 400 feet north of the Tiny House, through the tree grove). I also live on the North side of the property in another tiny house! If I am not on the property, my co-host, Audrey is there 99% of the time and can answer any questions you have.

What makes this property unique

This unique (teeny!) tiny cabin was custom designed for extreme minimalist living! The atmosphere emits a cozy, woodland, and mystical feel; a large outdoor living space makes this a unique combination of outdoor/indoor living.
