About this property
Waterfront retreat w/pool, dock & fire pit in Urbanna. BRING YOUR BOAT!
Retreat to this waterfront property on the LaGrange Creek, very close to the Rappahannock River. Relax by the private pool, dock or screened porch. Enjoy the nearby waterways from the provided kayaks, take a bike ride (bikes included) around the farm and check out the grass-fed cattle, enjoy the beautiful sunsets, backyard fire pit w/Adirondack chairs, and dock. The screened porch has a table for 4 and a hanging "egg" chair for relaxing. Plenty of space to hang out. There's even a beautiful pool table, indoor and outdoor games for your enjoyment. Kitchen has basic spices and some essentials, coffee maker (carafe or single cup), toaster oven/air-fryer combo, pressure cooker/slow cooker/rice cooker combo, and high quality appliances. Bath towels, pool towels and bedding are provided. Primary bathroom has a Jacuzzi jetted tub and towel warmer! Washer and dryer and a second fridge included as well.
The entire back of the home has great views of the water. The primary bedroom has a writing desk with an amazing water view; it's so nice to wake up to that view! The upstairs "bonus" room (with a private outdoor deck that overlooks the water and the outdoor pool) and is a multi-purpose room that includes office space, pool table, reclining sofa and a separate trundle bed (2 twins), along with a powder room! This space is huge and is a great spot to hang out with the family at night or get away and work during the day.
Just a mile away, you'll find "The Big Oak Cafe". A little further down the road, you will find restaurants we love, like "Something Different" (specializing in BBQ), "Little Jimmy's", "Portside Grill on Urbanna Creek", "Mi Jalisco" (Mexican), a Pizza place, a seafood and raw bar, "The Wooden Pickle" cafe, "Where the Sidewalk Ends" farm store/bakery. Urbanna has lots of quaint shops right in town. Our favorites are: "The Gilded Crown" (antiques and more!), "Ballgown Barefoot", and "Lowe Tide" boutique, and more. Feel free to book a class at "River House Creations" where you can make glass art or ceramics. There's a liquor store and pharmacy in town as well. Two local grocery stores are just a short drive away. Beautiful Urbanna Town Marina is just 4.5 miles away. COMING SOON TO URBANNA IN 2024: Small Town Burger outdoor eatery with fire pit tables, another new restaurant (upscale?), a massage parlor, and a yoga studio!
You will enjoy your stay at this private setting. Just wait til you see the starry night sky!
A BIT OF HISTORY ABOUT THIS PROPERTY: The property is located within Remlik Hall Farm. Originally owned by millionaire, Willis Sharpe Kilmer, who came to town in 1909 and built a 32-room Tudor Mansion on the original 1,000-acre farm. Soon after he arrived, West Urbanna Wharf was renamed Remlik Wharf (Remlik is Kilmer backwards). The marina is now called Remlik Marina and can be seen across the waterway from our home. Mr. Kilmer owned a few famous racehorses, one of whom was named "Sun Beau" (which our street is named after - this roads extends off of Race Track Road). A short walk down the road and you will see some cattle grazing on the property. Mr. Kilmer was owner of the racehorse named Exterminator, winner of the 1918 Kentucky Derby. He was the breeder and owner of Sun Briar, the largest money maker until Seabiscuit in 1939.

About the host
Hosted by Timothy Kelly

We have a long history of managing long-term rentals, but have chosen to change gears and use this home to enjoy ourselves with our two grown children along with sharing it with others! We love boating, kayaking, swimming and sitting by the fire pit. The screened porch and dock are great places to just sit and enjoy the sites and sounds of the amazing bird population. We love walking the farm and seeing the grass-fed cattle.
Why they chose this property
We LOVE all of what this property has to offer. It's a very quiet neighborhood, the birds make the most noise! We love watching the activity at the marina across the creek, we love that we can boat right from the dock. The creek is the best place to kayak! The pool is awesome! The upstairs "bonus room" is a nice retreat whether it's to get work done or play a game of pool or just hang out. The front porch is another awesome place, especially in the morning or later in the day to sit and rock and listen to the birds. This neighborhood is a few miles up the road from Urbanna's city limits, close enough to enjoy all it has to offer but far enough away to be quieter than any place we have ever spent time. A terrific getaway!
What makes this property unique
There are so many desirable qualities this property has to offer. The pool, the dock, the big firepit area with brand new adirondack chairs, the pool table, the corn-hole game, the bedding is awesome, the town is adorable with cute shops and lots of restaurants. The quiet here soothes the soul. You won't want to leave!
