Ready to sleep like a baby on this well-appointed King-sized, memory foam Casper mattress? Yes, it is super comfy!

Note: The bedroom area has a partition wall on the left with an open ceiling separating the living and bedroom- open concept.
Great picture my son took! I just had to add this shot!
The Smith Cottage was once a local blacksmith shop in the early 1900s. #mystichistory
1807 Williams property (Smith Cottage behind) is located across from Holly Hock Farm Antiques and the Old Mystic Post Office.
Relax at the fire pit also shared with the William Home guests. The Smith Cottage is on the left, and the red shed is where I keep bundles of wood. The Williams is beyond.

A HISTORICAL STAY

Built by the relatives of one of the original families who settled on the east side of Mystic River, the 1807 Williams Home property oozes with history and character! Located in the original colonial settlement of Mystic or Head O' the River, the Smith Cottage at the 1807 Williams Home property is a short ride- two miles to sightseeing and Mystic eateries.

The history buff in you will love the story behind the Smith Cottage and the 1807 Williams Home. The Smith Cottage started out as a blacksmith's shop in the early 1900s and was named in its honor.

The main house was originally known as the Wayside Inn~ a regular stopping point for stagecoaches on their New London-Providence runs. On January 17, 1840, former Secretary of State Daniel Webster, traveling by sleigh, stopped in for a drink on his way to the Groton Ferry to catch a boat to New York! If only walls had ears, imagine the stories they could recount! Perhaps if you slow down, you can hear the walls whisper words of the past!

Mystic offers a variety of activities, from visiting the museums, local beaches, restaurants, and shops to a day out in nature with a picnic basket~ there is something for everyone!

Whether you need relaxation or activity, Mystic offers both!

Several last-of-its-kind treasures call Mystic their home.

The Mystic Seaport Museum is a must-see while you are here! The 1807 Williams Home rooms are named after maritime trades. The museum is home to five National Historic Landmark vessels: Charles W. Morgan- last whaling ship, Sabino Coal Steamer- last in regular operation in the U.S., L.A. Dunton, Joseph Conrad, and the Emma C. Berry. Our property next door to the 1807 Williams Home & Smith Cottage, the 1784 Denison Home, offers 5 guest rooms, all named in honor of these five vessels at the Mystic Seaport. The Carriage House, our newest offering behind the Denison Home in Old Mystic, has rooms themed after historic people of the time.

Also, Mystic is home to Clyde's Cider Mill, the oldest steam-powered cider mill in the U.S. This special mill draws crowds in the fall to see the steam engine in action.

Charming Stay in Mystic
The cottage was absolutely adorable, filled with nautical antiques and cozy fabrics and furniture. The kitchen was appointed with everything we could need, including plenty of coffee. The owner is attentive and thorough. We were able to easily access Mystic attractions and nearby hiking areas. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, with lights on and music when we arrived. Note that there are two sleeping areas, but they are not walled-in bedrooms, so light and sound travels between the sleeping areas. Our kids loved sharing the loft space and there were books and toys for them to use. We absolutely loved this cottage and our stay in Mystic, highly recommended.

Hi, we’re Debbie and Paul!

Your hosts at MYSTIC VACATION RENTALS!

For over 30 years, Paul and I have been blessed to call the charming coastal village of Mystic our home port. Amidst this charming little village, we’ve nurtured our three young lads into adults and woven our own tapestry of family tales.

A once devoted full-time mother, I’ve now embarked on a fresh voyage – opening the doors of our storied properties to kindred spirits from near and distant shores.

Our shared passion is uncovering historic gems, whether preserving the essence of our own vacation homes or seeking solace in other historic havens during our travels.

Our hearts are firmly anchored in the past, and we enjoy bringing guests along with us when they stay at one of our Mystic homes.

Why they chose this property

Nestled in the heart of Old Mystic, the original settlement, our location is steeped in the quaintness and rich history that only this part of Mystic can offer. It's our cherished escape from the everyday hustle, providing a tranquil haven that whispers stories of the past.

Perfectly positioned, it allows effortless exploration of local attractions and offers a serene retreat from the lively buzz of downtown Mystic.

We fell in love with this neighborhood for its timeless charm and the sense of community that invites you to slow down and savor the moments. Our guests find it to be a perfect backdrop for making lasting memories, where the peaceful surroundings and scenic beauty enhance every experience.

Whether you're returning from a day of adventure or seeking a quiet corner to unwind and relax at home for the day, we believe you'll be quite happy~ even just hanging out reading, cooking, or watching a movie. Old Mystic is a place where every moment becomes a treasure :-)

What makes this property unique

Step into the enchanting heart of New England hospitality, where each room holds tales anchored in the 1800s. Journey through stories of ship smiths, coopers, whispering woodcarvers, meticulous riggers, and the daring adventures of sailors and whalers.

Our Mystic vacation homes artfully bridge time, weaving historical tales into present-day experiences so you can treat yourself to some old-fashioned hospitality reminiscent of a homemade apple pie’s comforting warmth and sweetness.

When my husband and I first walked into this antique gem, we felt instantly taken by its charm and character, and we think you will, too!

Time away is a rare gem, and our mission is to ensure your Mystic vacation is as perfect as it can be. Think nostalgic charm combined with modern amenities for 21st-century comfort and a splash of pure, homegrown hospitality to make your stay the most relaxing it can be.
