About this property
Discover Cape May s best kept secret: the secluded and isolated community of Poverty Beach.
Discover Cape May s best kept secret: the secluded and isolated community of Poverty Beach. No hotels, shops or restaurants, just two quiet roads of single family homes and townhouses facing the sea at the northern-most edge of the island. Our newly available townhouse is two short blocks from the beach and faces a wide open expanse of one of the island s two nature preserves. Family-friendly, with a large wrap around porch and an upper deck with a view toward the ocean, the home (half of a twin duplex) is quiet, serene, spacious and beautiful. Upstairs, enjoy the famous Cape May breezes and the gorgeous sea breezes. Our home accommodates seven adults -- or more if they are child-sized. Two full baths upstairs and a half bathroom on the ground floor ensure easy living for even the larges families (and there is central air conditioning for those rare days when the Cape May breezes are still and the sun is blazing). The ground floor features a fully equipped modern kitchen with an adjoining dining room where the town s most beautiful sunsets can be admired from the large dinner table (seating ten). The family room at the rear of the house has a wide screen TV and broad, sliding glass doors that open out onto the expansive back deck with another outdoor eating table and chairs (seats six). Wooden steps lead to an enclosed outdoor shower and a lush, fenced-in back yard. The beach, which can be reached by a neighborhood-only walking path (several doors down from the house) is the last beach in Cape May before the protected 352-acre site owned by the United States Coast Guard. Because of its remoteness and limited access, it feels like a private beach (though, it does have lifeguards) and is, by most estimations, the least crowded beach on the entire island. The neighborhood includes long-time residents who are friendly and helpful. Homes are lovingly maintained with gardens, sidewalks and abundant parking. So if it's peace, quiet and gorgeous sunsets you're looking for -- and only a ten-minute bike ride into town -- Poverty Beach, Cape May s best-kept secret, may be the place for you!
