About this property

Charming Fisherman's Cottage With Breathtaking 360-Degree Views!

You’ll be hard pressed to find a more ideal location for visiting Brownlee Reservoir, one of the best places for warmwater fishing in the Pacific Northwest. This rustic cottage is only a 1/4 mile from the boat ramp and has ample room for parking and unloading. Enjoy 360- degree views of the Eagle Valley, beautiful starry skies, and warm welcomes from Richland locals. You’ll have a fully fenced yard, a kitchen stocked with essentials, and space to relax after a hard day of playing.

This 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath house was built in the 1920s and offers a taste of the simple, rural lifestyle that gives Richland its unique charm. Although ideal for groups, families, and pets, the cottage promotes a welcoming atmosphere for all kinds of guests. A secure kennel and fenced yard ensure your four-legged friends are safe, while children can delve into a world of fun with an array of toys, books, and dedicated dishware.

The Fisherman's Cottage has a large living room with an array of comfortable seating, a large dining table, and basic kitchen essentials for cooking. Its unique appeal lies in its testament to Oregon's natural splendor, all without compromising on ease or practicality.

Guest access:
You’ll have exclusive access to the house and yard, and we can accommodate easy parking within the gated space in front of the barns and outbuildings. These buildings do function as storage for a working ranch, so clear communication about what parking needs are will be vital for a seamless, coordinated visit. If your visit falls in the autumn months, you may cross paths with a cattle drive or two!

Other things to note:
This is a wonderful little ranch home that was built in the 1920s and has been used for ranch hand living for many years. The recent decision to convert it to vacation rental means that it is in the midst of being updated. It is definitely a few rungs above “roughing it”, but it is still rough around the edges in a few ways. It has all the essentials and most creature comforts and we will be adding other amenities over time.

Fishing & Birding Trip
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful but too short vacation to Brownlee Reservoir and the Wallowa Mountains in May. This wonderful old farmhouse was our base. With Bullock Orioles nesting in the back yard trees and a covey of Quail in the driveway, and the Powder River backing up to the hayfields of the ranch. A simple, clean, and well maintained accommodation, it was perfect for us and our dog. Literally 1/2 mile from two boat ramps and a mile from a good country grocery/hardware/liquor/fishing tackle store it’s a fine place for up to four people to relax. Great communication with the host during our stay. Enjoy!

This house is an old farm house that has been kind of renovated. It is functional. For us, it served it's purpose. We used it only for sleeping. It was kind of dirty, and smelled funny. We left the windows open all morning and it helped with the smell. BUT, there was lots of flies, and it tooks us about an hour to get ride of them. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is in a good shape and has most of utensils you may need. They provided toiletries and towels. Baths are good, too. There is a full fence yard, for your dogs to run free. Owner is nice to leave brochures with things to do around. It is quite and relaxing. Bedroom windows have curtains that let the light in. If you are a light sleeper, it won't work for you. It is in the middlemof a rural area, the house has mice traps around the house, and even though we did not see any mice, we found mouse droppings. I will give this place a 7.8/10.

Location was good. Enjoyed our stay.
Could use some yard clean up. Toilet seat needs replaced in the main bathroom. Toilets could also stand to be taller. There was no propane for the BBQ. It is a good setup for a bunch of guys looking for a place to stay for a fishing trip. Could use a dishwasher and washer and dryer for longer stays. Over all we enjoyed our stay.

Hi there, I’m Tasheena. I was born and raised in a small town in Idaho and married during college. My husband and I lived a nomadic life for quite some time; moving around for school, work, and adventures while growing our family. We put down real roots, though, when we moved to Baker City, Oregon five years ago. Since then, we have fallen quite thoroughly in love with this charming and historic town. It is a perfect fit for a family of diverse interests. My husband spends his time in between ER shifts at the hospital, adventuring all over eastern Oregon; from hiking, trail running, swimming, mountain biking, and golfing, to snowboarding, skiing, and snowshoeing. Our kids love to explore the neighborhood and local community, from walks to the local ice cream shop, parks, and library, to family fun at the sports complex near the high school. I ranch, which means enjoying an endless supply of breathtaking sunrises in this rich portion of the PNW, and cultivating an ecosystem within it. I love my "office!" In my "spare time," I enjoy old movies, music, reading, yoga, and meditation. I am also hard at work cultivating an appreciation for fine whiskeys of every variety. I am relatively new to the world of short-term vacation rentals on the hosting side, but with a large family and many traveling friends, I have hosted my fair share of visitors. I absolutely love meeting new people and take great pride in creating a comfortable and thoughtful space that considers every small detail. Thanks for being here. I’m excited to meet you!

Why they chose this property

There are a lot of treasures to explore in this neck of the woods with the Wallowa Mountains, Eagle Cap Wilderness, and Hells Canyon National Recreation area right outside your door. This, in combination with the friendly locals of Richland, OR, make this rental and location ideal for visitors of all kinds. Nearby are tons of hiking trails and swimming spots to enjoy with the family, and depending on the time of the year you visit, you might even catch the Baker County Fair and Rodeo or Pine Fest in Halfway, Oregon.

What makes this property unique

The fenced yard, kennel, and parking are definitely added bonuses of this rental. However, the most unique asset this property has is its beautiful views and proximity to various outdoor adventures! The Fisherman's cottage is a tranquil escape from hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here, you can keep your worry and stress at bay while soaking in the magic of this small, yet magical ranching community.
