Directly across the street is Tiguex Park, the entrance to historic Old Town plaza, the Albuquerque Museum, and a block away is the Museum of Natural History, Explora Science Museum, and Sawmill neighborhood, with the newly built Sawmill Market - an upscale food hall featuring some of the city's best food and drinks.
Historic Old Town has been the heart of Albuquerque since the city was founded here in 1706. Today, Old Town is the city's cultural center, with numerous museums and more than 100 shops, galleries and restaurants. Old Town’s narrow streets and century-old adobe houses are home to New Mexican eateries serving enchiladas and sopapilla pastries, and tiny artisan shops selling jewelry, rugs and pottery. Old Town Plaza is a charming spot overlooked by the 18th-century San Felipe de Neri Church. Nearby, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science has dinosaur skeletons, while the Albuquerque Museum displays Southwestern art.
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING (we like to set clear expectations to ensure that our guests have the best possible experience!): * Due to the historic nature of the Rattlesnake Suite structure, we do not recommend this space for guests taller than 6 feet as the ceiling is low in a few places. * There is a kiva fireplace in the Rattlesnake Suite, which is available for use to guests in the Winter months (December - February). Please be aware that there may be a "fireplace smell" in the space during this time of year.
PET FRIENDLY The Rattlesnake Suite is pet friendly to well behaved pets, with a $50 pet fee per pet (2 maximum) and agreement to our pet rules: - Keep pets leashed at all times while on the property. - Clean up all pet waste immediately (we prefer if you take pets across the street to use the restroom at the park when possible). - Pets are not allowed on the furniture. If you absolutely cannot keep them off, please cover any furniture thoroughly (we provide a pet blanket to cover the sofa in a basket in the room). - Do not allow pets to bark incessantly or cause disturbance to the other guests. - By bringing a pet, you agree that you will pay for any and all damages caused by pets to furniture or furnishings at the property and that you agree to our pet rules.
CHILDREN UNDER 12 Are allowed at The Rattlesnake Suite, but we first like to inform guests with children that this space is not designed to be an especially child friendly (it has high end art, plants, and vintage items within reach of small hands), and you may need to keep a close eye and move things out of reach during your stay. We ask that you be the judge of whether this is an appropriate space for your individual child to stay, as you'll be responsible for any damages.

Perfect accommodations! Much attention to the little details that make the difference between a place to stay and a carefree retreat. The location is perfect and the grounds were well-kept, private, and felt very safe.
We had such a great time here. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed using the hot tub at night! The location was fantastic as we could walk into Old Town and were close to other great food options. I highly recommend staying here!
This is very cute, beautifully decorated, suite has easy parking, a security gate, hot tub, and is located a five minute walk from the central square of the old town. And, as a bonus, across the street from the unit is a beautiful park where my dog loved to run! Restaurants, museums, and shopping very close by, too!
So beautifully, artfully and well appointed and the location is lovely by the park and perfect for its close proximity to Old Town.
We could not have been more pleased with our overnight stay.
Communication regarding arrival and check out were clear and concise.
We loved the Rattlesnake Suite, its decor, and the lovely compound for all the Desert Compass suites. We never had to contact the property manager during our two-day stay. The property is located just steps from Old Town shops. Amazing place and location!
We had such an amazing time at our stay in the Rattlesnake Suite! It was very comfortable and we got to enjoy the hot tub on the property! In an amazing location near the Albuquerque Museum, Old Town, and lots of food and shops! An excellent experience! Hope to get back out there and stay again someday! Thank you
The room had a lot of charm and was a great size. I’m over 6 feet tall so I had to do some ducking while walking around. But overall to have a small “cowboy” pool, hot tub, off street parking with a gate and be walking distance to old town was great. I would definitely like to stay there again

Absolutely beautiful room and kitchen and I cooked a whole duck dinner with chocolate lava cake for dessert. 10/10
My sis and I walked into a beautiful clean and spacious space. Crisp white bedding. Sparkly lights around the window. Good reading lamps next to BOTH sides of the bed (we didn’t have to fight about who had the better light Ha!)Kitchen& bath were clean and supplied with amenities. We pulled into secure grounds with parking. Can’t say enough good things a bout this place.
I absolutely adored our family trip to Albuquerque. The coyote suite was a great place to come lay our heads after our adventures! It was a beautiful area and we loved how cute and cozy the coyote was! I will say, I did not know that it was a studio style home when I booked and assumed there would be a bedroom so I was surprised when we first arrived. Other than that, everything was great! Taya was extremely helpful and responsive when I was having issues with check in, there was a great book with suggestions on where to go and what to eat, and the property was clean cozy and quiet. I would love to go back in the future!

Gorgeous and special spot!
We were so excited to stay the night at this gorgeous property! This place will not disappoint. It is close to everything in Old Town, quieter than expected, and the styling of the whole property and the rooms cannot be beat. The booking process was easy and the entire experience was more than 5 stars!

We LOVED the app. It was very easy to download and use, and super helpful! We did many of the restaurant/coffee shop and hiking recommendations, and enjoyed them!

Perfect Stay
The Desert Compass could not have been more perfect - everything about it - killer location, secure compound, easy self check in, authentic old style New Mexico vibe, sweet kiva fireplace:-), hot shower, clean and a comfy bed. Although we didn’t really use it, the kitchen was stocked with all essentials. 3 minute walk to Old Town and a park right across the street. We will definitely return!

Absolutely perfect
We absolutely adored our stay at the Rattlesnake suite. Such a gorgeous place in a beautiful setting. Idyllic! The location of the Desert Compass is perfect. It really couldn’t have been better. We were travelling there with a baby so location and ease was everything Walking distance to Sawmill and Blackbird coffee- both became faves! The Alberqueque museum was just steps away so we got to check out the latest exhibition. Easy access to all the old town shops and sites. Being just opposite a park was also ideal with a child! We were sad to leave!
I’d definitely recommend this place to others!

Another great stay at the Rattlesnake Suite
Once again the Rattlesnake Suite was a great place to land in Albuquerque. Lovely neighborhood, great aesthetic in the space, and I LOVE that king size bed. The suite feels super welcoming, full of thoughtful touches (like the book/magazine selection), and has ample space for a couple looking for a private, comfy and cozy place to be. Hope to be back soon!
