What I love about this condo: The patio and bedroom open to the lush grounds and a short walk to the resort amenities. The national park trailhead is a 5-minute walk from the patio, and leads to Bass Lake, and 32 miles of Moses Cone hiking trials. The kids can play outside as you can observe them from the patio, and living room. Just a short walk to the indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, tennis courts, Timberlakes Restaurant and Chetola Lodge, and resort activities. The floors between the condos are concrete slab with metal stud construction, so the unit is quiet and well-built. Because the Cardinal building is located at the top of Chetola Resort, the light and unobstructed views from this lower level unit are a welcome surprise.

- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, a couple garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. The condo also has a hair dryer.

- Firewood may be purchased at the time of booking or with a week's notice. You receive two wrapped, kiln-dried bundles and a firestarter for $25 plus tax.
