Welcome to BajaMar (A Belize Tourism Board Gold Standard accredited property) . Located in desirable Mata Grande/Mata Chica neighborhood, this house was completed in 2010 and boasts pristine white sand beach, private infinity fresh water pool which overlooks to barrier reef, 3rd story viewing deck, palapa with bar, with beverage cooler & grill, 4 kayaks for guests to enjoy, and a further outdoor kitchen with gas grill, wine fridge and seating for 10 or more.

House is ideal for any reunion, small wedding or family & friends get together. House consists of 5 bedrooms, 5 baths and 4,500+ sq ft of living space. 3 of the 5 bedrooms have private kitchenettes, bathrooms, personal safes, and plasma TV's which all have private entrances.

The neighborhood offers services such as grocery store, golf cart rentals, bike rentals as well as some of the best restaurants on the island. If you are looking to get away and enjoy peace and quiet but still want to have access to services-this is the ideal location and house for you!
Professional and very attentive on-site caretaker couple will ensure a wonderful and memorable vacation for you, your family and friends - their services include; cleaning, maintenance, advice and organisation of tours / transport and delicious cooking!

We had the best time connecting with friends during our stay at BajaMar. Alfred and his wife were great, and the cooking was on point! Great access to the water and short walk to a few restaurants on the beach. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a chill place in San Pedro with lots of great amenities and a friendly support staff.

Our family of 9 (from 5 to 70) thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas stay at BajaMar; great house and great location. The pool got lots of use and the long pier provided good fishing. Alfred helped us with gear and reservations for fishing and snorkeling and Dianie provided delicious meals. We couldn’t have asked for more!

We had a rocky start with a power outage the first day due to construction near by (no fault of the owner and the generator ran everything but the A/C). The power outage impacted the hot water heater but Alfred was on top of it and we had hot water by dinner time on Monday (we got there Sat). Alfred and Diannie were AWESOME! Diannie made us dinner our first night and it was absolutely delicious - we also loved the leftovers. Alfred arranged some boat trips for us and they were the high light of our trip. We went fishing, snorkeling, conch hunting, more snorkeling and visited Caye Caulker. There are some restaurants nearby but downtown is a solid 30 min drive. The roads are way better than they were our last visit 8 years ago and there is more paved road than we expected but it's still an adventure. We found the best grocery store for all around shopping is the Palm Grocery about 10 min away. The gas station nearby is good in a pinch. Secret Beach is relatively close (but not our fave place to visit). Highly recommend a trip to Caye Caulker though! Alfred is very responsive and quick to answer any questions we had. He was super helpful and we so appreciated him! Diannie cleaned the house and replaced towels etc for us mid week - a very nice service for sure!

Our group of friends and family stayed at BajaMar for a week. It was a great location with local dock pick up for excursions. Golf cart rides to San Pedro and Secret Beach was fun and exciting. Alfred is the best and can help you with anything you want to experience on the island, Diane's cooking was great and a must do. Several restaurants were a quick walk on the beach and wish we had tried them earlier in the trip. Overall a great experience and look forward to going back in the future and will certainly stay at BajaMar again!!

Baja mar is a beautiful property located about 40 minutes (by golf cart) north of San Pedro. It was a perfect destination for a friends/family getaway. Private, on the beach, with a spacious pool, and dock access. Alfred took great care of us and Dianie cooked some amazing dinners. We can’t wait to go back.

BajaMar is a great house in a beautiful location. We stayed with our adult children and friends. Plenty of space for everyone and comfortable rooms.Alfred and Dianie were wonderful and attentive and helped with any arrangements or questions we had. Alfred had our golf carts waiting for us when we arrived, connected us with a dive shop, and gave us lots of guidance on local things to do. Dianie cooked us 3 amazing meals. We had all the room that we needed. Alfred took care of everything we needed and was a valuable source for giving us info that we needed. Our welcome meal was great I only wish the group had wanted a second meal cooked for us. Lots of seaweed so we couldn't go into the ocean but Alfred explained thats what happens when the wind was coming from the direction it was the whole time we were there so obviously mother nature to blame

Baja Mar met all of our expectations. Alfred was so helpful at explaining what the most popular excursions were and set them up for us. His wife, cooked for us twice and the food was just delicious. The bedrooms on the bottom floor are large so we were very comfortable. We enjoyed all of the outdoor spaces and the location was close to many local restaurants.

Spacious isolated home

The location is quiet, but plan to be flexible while figuring out what to do based on weather changes and time to travel. Most if our activities left straight from the dock which is very convenient. The golf cart roads everywhere are pretty rough and messy so leave your finery at home. The island is dirty and trashy, including the property itself, although the house is certainly nice and clean inside.

Minnesotans Loving Belize

Belize is a beautiful place! The home at BajaMar was perfect, the waters blue, the clean pool, and the people were wonderful hosts in their country. Alfred, Diane and Christian were so kind and the food was always deliciously prepared. We loved that we could set up excursions with Alfred and trust that all would go well. And they did! We had a GREAT time!

Why they chose this property

While all beautiful places have their individual charms, nowhere on earth has given me the same sense of a yearning to return than here at BajaMar on Ambergris, the “Isla Bonita”.
As a brief background to the house, at the end of 2007 I bought the land, five miles north of San Pedro Town, to build BajaMar as a tropical home. The intention was to enable my wife and I to escape the cold winters of Europe; that I might fly-fish the surrounding salt water flats during my retirement and the decision was made with some vague and eccentric middle aged whim of investment. While the conceptual layout of the house was mine, the fine architectural design is entirely to the credit of local architect, Sue Courtenay. The house was completed in 2010 after a prolonged and challenging construction period of some two and a half years. Every single material for the construction was brought to the site by barge.
