Owner does not keep commitments
They hotel is wonderful, but the “member” owner we leased from advertised views from the room with an ocean view. We were assigned to a garden view room that was situated above the food exhaust vent from the restaurant below with no view. We were able to make a change to a higher floor but no ocean view. Initially the owner agreed that her photos showed an ocean view and agreed to pay for the difference to the hotel, but then she called them back and declined to pay stating she believed our room was nice enough. The hotel continued to try to reach the owner to make a change, but she ceased answering their calls. Initially the owner corresponded with me by VRBO chat but when she declined to pay for an upgrade stopped corresponding stating the hotel didn’t have an upgrade in any case. This was also untrue and we ultimately prevailed upon the hotel manager to give us the ocean view. The hotel ended up eating the cost because the owner refused to take responsibility.
In my opinion, you should not trust the owner that the room is as she advertised. The whole episode detracted from the pleasure of the vacation. The entire problem points to a clear ethics and morals problem on the part of the owner. Forewarned is forarmed.
