Perfect Stay in Paradise

This home was the perfect place for our week stay in Vieques! It was beautiful inside and out. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking our own meals. The location was convenient. Dennis was very helpful throughout, and Melyssa was available to answer questions during our stay. We are looking forward to returning.

Beautiful Property

Overall, the property was a decent fit for my family. Not worth the over 6,000.00 I paid for the week. In a decrepit neighborhood! The pool was the shining star of the whole place. The property is in need of some TLC. There are several areas in different rooms that had leaks constantly dripping which we had to keep applying paper towels to, These leaks seem to have been going on for some time as there is damage to the floor tiles.We were getting dripped on continuously in several different places. We bought several rolls of paper towels because of these leaks. Definitely not going back to this property.

Amazing House

My family had an amazing vacation in Vieques! Villa Altamira was absolutely beautiful and even better than the photos. The house was very clean and well stocked with plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, kitchen supplies etc. The beds were very comfortable with very nice linens and bathrobes in every room. The outdoor space was absolutely incredible and the perfect private oasis to relax. The pool and view was beyond expectations. The sunsets and views by the pool or outdoor fire pit can't be beat. It's an absolutely stunning and private space to relax and the views will take your breath away! The owners, Annette and Dennis were very responsive, accommodating and helpful during the booking process and Melyssa, the caretaker was extremely helpful throughout our stay. She had great recommendations for activities, restaurants and even was able to get us ferry tickets when we were unable to purchase them. This is an absolute gem of a property and we would love to return. Thank you for an amazing family vacation!

Great experience

The entire family thoroughly enjoined our stay at this property on Vieques. Great views, close to town, close to ferry, support was fantastic while there. Looking forward to a return trip. Highly recommend.

Villa Altamira

Lovely location overlooking the town of Isabel Segunda. Recently updated in bright colors which we felt really captured the mood of the Island. The rooms are spacious, and the kitchen was appointed well enough we could cook. This was our 6th trip to Vieques and plan to return again.

Villa Altamira is exactly as described

Five of us had a great experience at Villa Altimira. The three en suite bedrooms on three different levels worked well for us. The views from the terrace overlooking the ocean between Vieques and Puerto Rico were incredible reminding me of a scene from a movie. The only caution is the parking, though off street can be difficult to manage. The house was clean and well equipped, everything you need is available at Altamira. It really was hard to leave, as the swimming pool really is perfect.

Excellent location and extremely private.

Location was great to walk to down and minutes from ferry. The pictures were deceiving. The place is great but needs some TLC and kitchen could be cleaner. Grill was missing a grease pan and grease was spilling on the deck and I did not find the washing machine. They should leave a manual for guest. If you want a no frills get away with privacy THIS IS THE PLACE.

We can't say enough good things about the house and the island. The house was very clean and accommodated our group of 10 with lots of elbow room! The property is beautiful with plants, trees, and flowers. It feels private. I loved getting up early to have coffee on the deck with the view of the water. Walking around town was a favorite as well as snorkeling at Mosquito pier. The beaches are amazing and so few people that you feel like you have the beach to yourself. We rented a 4wd Jeep so we could get to some remote beaches. It was hard to leave...

Wonderful house with a great view

Went from Sweden to get some sun and bath after a Cold and dark Winter. Vieques and Villa Altamira really lived up to our needs. This is a beatiful Villa with a great view, fully equiped. We spent most evenings on the terrass making our own food in the sunset and it was really relaxing and nice. The temperature is perfect in the evenings. We also enjoyed the pool in the afternoons after having visited some of all nice beaches. Great service around the house and everytime we had a question we got a quick and satisfaying answere. We also rented a car for the whole time we were there to explore Vieques all beaches during the days, and I really recomend that yor hire a jeep, since the roads are gumpy ande sometimes filled with water after a short rain. I also recommend that you go on a snorkeling tour som that you can snorkel on the reefs, Beautiful and Amazing to snorkel among turtels and other fish. I can really recomend the Villa Altamira. Its beatiful and nice!

Enjoyable Time at Rental

The property is very nice and has an excellent view. We really enjoyed are time in Vieques. Everyone enjoyed the wild horses that would come visit. We rented a UTV and it worked out perfect for us. We were able to travel down all the off the beaten path roads. We only had a couple items that we thought may be nice for future guests. We contacted the person that overseas the rental and left them know on Wednesday that the pool was getting dirty. When it rained it got dirt in the pool. Nobody ever came to clean it so we cleaned it our self since we have a pool of our own. That involved locating the sweeper for it since just skimming the top of water with a net was not going to clean the dirt off the bottom. I don't think that is something we should have had to do since we informed them that it was getting dirty. The living room furniture is very nice to look at but is not very comfortable. New cushions would do the furniture wonders because it is very nice looking. Overall this is a very nice rental and I would recommend others to stay in it. I even included links on my Facebook posts for the VRBO listing.

Quiet Slice of Paradise

My husband and I stayed a week at Altamira and had an amazing time. Altamira is huge with 3 different levels. It has a beautiful view, refreshing private pool and a ton of areas to lounge around. It is in a quiet neighborhood just outside of Isabel II and was a little tricky to get to (no street signs), but eventually we memorized the route. Everything about our trip went smoothly. When we landed, we called the car rental place and they came to pick us up. We texted Dennis at the same time and he met us at the car rental and showed us the way to the house. He gave us a good overview of the house and local area and had some tips on what to see and do while we were there. Altamira felt very safe. I know there is a lot of petty theft on the island, but we felt protected and secure at Altamira. We made most of our meals at Altamira and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was awesome that they had beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, a cooler and fins to borrow for trips to the beach. The patio upstairs was an awesome place to watch the stars at night. I think the only complaint we had was the heat and humidity, but that's going to be the same everywhere on the island. The property had ceiling fans in every room and air conditioners in all of the bedrooms, so that definitely helped. Overall, our trip to Vieques was pretty amazing!

Beautiful, Gracious Villa with Stunning Views

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation at Villa Altamira. The staff at Rainbow Realty were friendly and helpful, as was the property caretaker, who also has an amusing sense of humor. The property is beautiful, I don't think the photos on the VRBO website do it justice. (The photos on the owners' Google+ site are really helpful to look at.) The pool area is spectacular, and the view of the Caribbean while swimming is amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with every type of equipment/utensil that we needed to prepare meals. The owners clearly have very good taste in interior design, as the furnishings and wall hangings were all tasteful and appropriate for the environment. We loved being able to take a swim in fresh water every evening after getting home from the beach. One evening we got a visit from a huge iguana --he was at least 5 feet long. Quite the experience to see him basking by the pool. Had to do some quick googling to find out if iguanas could conceivably be dangerous. We decided not to try to swim with him. It is an easy walk into Isabel Segunda from the Villa, should you decide you want to spend an extended session with Al at Mar Azul or drink a bottle of wine at one of the restuarants. (Conuco is great, by the way.) But do be aware that you will want to rent a car to reach the best beaches on Vieques. We will certainly be back at Altamira the next time we visit Vieques.

Everything we could have hoped for

FROM VERMONT TO VIEQUES for a lovely February getaway! We traveled as a family of four (mom, dad, and two school-aged children) and a dear friend who joined us from Boston. Villa Altamira was an ideal spot from which to explore all Vieques has to offer -- stunning beaches, of course, but also two lovely towns, some of off-the-beaten path sights, and great restaurants. All three bedrooms are very comfortable, and in fact there was so much space that we didn't even spread out into the entire house (next time maybe we'll bring along another friend or two!) The Villa is stocked with plenty of linens and towels and has an adequately stocked kitchen. When not at the beach or exploring the island, Villa Altamira is a vacation/relaxation destination in and of itself. The two decks offer exquisite views of Isabel Segunda, including the lighthouse, as well as the blue, blue ocean and the main island of Puerto Rico in the distance. We were even graced with a double rainbow one morning. Oh, and the pool! We all enjoyed it every day. There is ample seating around the pool, including the most comfortable reclining lounge chairs we had ever experienced! Dennis and Annette were extremely attentive and helpful at check-in, check-out, and in between. For example, Dennis passed along the name and contact information of someone who was selling greens, and we were able to connect with her and purchase some delicious leafy greens for salads (greens can be difficult to come by on the island). Beautiful house, beautiful island

We just returned from a wonderful, relaxing one-week vacation at Villa Altamira and hope to return soon. The house was perfect for our family of seven: Our two young adult sons shared the downstairs suite, our married daughter, son-in-law and 7-year old granddaughter had the large bedroom on the main floor, and my husband and I took the upstairs bedroom. Everyone had their privacy, yet there was plenty of space for us to hang out together in the living/dining room area, on the spacious deck, and around the pool. We loved the location -- an easy walk from the Isabella Segunda ferry dock and center of town. Isabella Segunda is the larger but quieter of the two towns on the island Esperanza has a more active nightlife, but Isabella Segunda has good markets, bakeries, bars and restaurants, and an authentic, relaxed charm that grew on us as the week went on. The house is just as lovely as in the photos and extremely well supplied, with all the kitchen items, towels, beach chairs, BBQ grill, etc., one could want. We ate breakfast and a few dinners at home, packed the cooler with sandwiches and drinks to take to the beach, and ate most dinners out. The beds were extremely comfortable, and each bedroom had its own air conditioner, as well as ceiling fans, so we slept well. We found Vieques to be warm and welcoming - and the beaches are just exquisite, each one with its own special character. We enjoyed exploring different beaches, although we found our favorite to be Sun Bay. We did some great snorkeling on the island, renting equipment from BlackBeard Sports, and also took the luminescent biobay kayak tour at night - a real treat. But honestly, the house, pool, and deck are so beautiful that you don't have to go anywhere. Watching sunsets from the deck were a special treat. The owners were extremely up front and responsive to our concerns when we first contacted them. We initially had reservations about going to Vieques, wondering if the island had sufficiently recovered from Hurricane Maria to receive visitors. We are so glad we decided to go forward. The house is thoughtfully designed for guests and well-managed. Annette, the rental agent, and her colleague Melyssa were attentive to all our needs, answering all of our questions promptly by text and phone. This is a great property, and if you're looking for a quiet vacation in a beautiful, relaxing spot, Vieques is a great place to go.

Exactly as described!

We had an amazing week in Vieques and Altamira, and the property manager Melyssa was a big reason. We had inconvenient arrival and departure times, and Melyssa was great about doing her best to accommodate. The house is beautiful and exactly as described. The teens walked to town most nights for an ice cream and my husband and I would sit on the pool terrace with a cocktail and watch the sunsets. We were a group of 6 - 4 older teens and 2 adults and the house worked great for us. Everyone found their space to retreat to, but the common spaces worked great when we all wanted to watch a movie or eat dinner. Lastly, the beaches in Vieques were beyond compare. They were so beautiful and deserted. We went to a different one each day, and they all were incredible. But, a 4 wheel drive is required for almost all. A great vacation at a great house. Can’t wait to go back!

School vacation get away

We stayed at the property with friends and family. This is a rare case where the house was actually better than advertised. The views are outstanding. We have been to Vieques 6 times and we this property is a stand out. Would definitely come back.

Great house! Everything you’ll need and so much more. Great rooms, beds, pool and style. And the top floor master suite? Amazing!! Property manager Melyssa was fantastic and always available. And the friendly and curious neighborhood roosters, chickens, cats and wild horses make your stay here truly special and, well, we just loved it!!

Villa Altamira Vieques

Mine was a three and a half week stay and my fifth at Villa Altamira. Melyssa and Hector are the caretakers and they are wonderful, helpful, friendly. The house, the pool, the view and the Isabel community and town are superb not to mention friendly people, cats, horses, chickens and dogs. Great restaurants and beaches nearby. Vieques is my favorite vacation spot. Thank you !

Amazing views, outdoor space, comfortable vacation spot!

We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers on our trip and we all loved every minute of our stay at this property. The house was well equipped with coolers, beach chairs, towels and everything we needed in the kitchen to make some simple meals. The decks and pool area were amazing and we watched every sunrise and sunset from one of the comfortable outdoor spaces. Meylissa was extremely responsive and a great resource for help with transportation and any other question we had. The roads around the property are a little tricky if it's your first time to the island, but easy to navigate with 4 wheel drive (which you will want to get to green beach anyway :)) We would love to stay in this property again. Thanks for opening your beautiful home to our family.

Great, private, neighborhood house

Villa Altamira worked perfectly for our group: two couples and a 13-year-old skater boy. The house is well situated in the neighborhood hills of Bravos de Boston, close enough to town to watch the ferries come and go but far enough away to be quiet. The villa lives well. In our case, the couples took the main- and second-floor bedrooms and the teenager found sanctuary in the lower level with its own entrance. That room was a bit dark, but it was fine with the French doors opened. The kitchen was well-equipped and the living room was comfortable. But we spent most of our time at the house gathered around the table on the porch or hanging out at the pool. The porch offers panoramic views to the north and west, so it's a great place to just relax and take in the view. The same is true of the pool area, which is outfitted with comfy lounges and Adirondack chairs. This was our fifth trip to Vieques, and this was among the nicest homes we've rented. Melyssa, the caretaker, was attentive to our needs, and Dennis and Annette communicated well both before and after our stay. We'd happily stay here again!

Beautiful views

We were happy with the home and very thankful for the AC units in the bedrooms. Although finding the house was a little difficult. Perhaps a picture of what the home looks like from the road. Since the listing picture is the back of the house. I enjoyed morning coffee from the hammock and watching th ferry go across and back. We enjoyed the pool, and the outdoor dinner table. Having beach things and coolers was extremely helpful.

Perfect place for two families

Villa Altamira was a wonderful place for our two families to spend a week or so on Vieques (four adults and four kids total). The pool was a big hit. The bedrooms were comfortable. The location felt private yet was an easy walk to town. Melyssa, the property manager was SO helpful throughout our stay. We would definitely come back to this house!
