Rum Cottage used to be a quaint rum distillery in the early 1980s and is now transformed into a spacious room with a king size bed and kitchenette. Situated next to the Pagua river, it is surrounded by a beautiful garden that guests can enjoy and the main property is nearby. Rum Cottage is only a 10-15 minute drive to the airport, 30 mins. to Calibishie and 5 mins from the beginning of the Kalinago Territory. Owners live on property.

Beautiful location

I had a wonderful time and the hosts were one of the reasons why! The grounds are just beautiful! The place was perfect for me, very spacious and comfortable. I can't say enough about the hosts. Marica gave me great detailed suggestions on what to see and do near by and none of them disappointed. Even with having a toddler and newborn, they still responded to my requests promptly. The only suggestion I have (this is not related to this property) is if you plan on driving to make a car reservation way in advanced.

Rustic cottage in lush garden

The host, Arno, and charming spouse,Marica, created a very hospitable stay in this cottage near the Kalinago part of the east of the island. It was very convenient to the Marigot airport, a 10-15min drive, so was perfect as I was arriving near dusk and did not wish to drive a long distance in the dark with my rental car that first night. I came for trail running, which worked well as segments 6 and 7 of the Waitukubuli Trail join near the cottage, although the trail needs work. Arno, who is a French-educated engineer, is articulate and knowledgeable about the area. Recommend this cottage for an individual or couple. I stayed for 3 days.

We are a young couple with a 2 1/2 year-old boy. I am a sound engineer and my girlfriend is a photographer. We live close by on the same property but far away enough for your own privacy.
We have three friendly dogs and three cats on property. The cats usually stay in main house and do not venture out to the the bungalow.

Why they chose this property

Situated in the north eastern coast of Dominica, Rum Cottage is next to main road but has a feeling of seclusion. There are places to explore nearby: Kalinago Territory, various waterfalls, beaches and hikes. It is also situated right next to the Pagua River where you can enjoy a river swim or kayak ride.
