About this property
Zen Meets Art, Art Meets Luxury
Summary:
This immaculately done-up Eichler home is truly a zen paradise. With ceiling-high glass doors, tasteful art pieces from around the world, and comfy, serene seating areas inside and out, you'll never want to leave!
But if you do, you're in a convenient location, with easy access to major destinations like Stanford, g00Gl3, Tesla, VMWare, Meta, Palo Alto's bustling downtown, plus highway 101 and El Camino Real.
No cleaning fees or checkout chores.
We look forward to hosting you.
The Space:
From the moment you enter the foyer, you'll experience the zen atmosphere of this wonderfully done-up Eichler home. (Joseph Eichler was a famed architect and builder of yesteryear, and many local homes boast his style. Many of the homes have been *very* nicely redone, including this one.)
The owner has traveled worldwide, and his taste in artwork is displayed everywhere, with masks, paintings, murals, wall hangings, statues, and musical instruments lovingly perched throughout the home.
The furniture in the living area is inspired by vintage Airstream trailers and marked by various glass and Buddha sculptures. The living area has sliding glass doors for easy access to the side yard, where you'll find a relaxing seating area.
The dining area, which also has sliding glass doors, is centered on a large table, perfect for entertaining, and it adjoins the spacious kitchen.
Off the kitchen is a family room with a TV.
In the other part of the home are the three bedrooms. The main one has a comfy king-sized bed with a magnificent wood frame, and the attached bedroom has a glass-enclosed, tiled shower. There are sliding glass doors leading you to the backyard, with another seating and relaxing area.
The other two bedrooms have queen-sized beds and -- you guessed it!! -- sliding glass doors again. (Note that the pictures were taken when the beds in these two bedrooms were only full-sized. We have replaced them with queen-sized beds and will update the pictures accordingly.)
Regarding the art pieces, note that some of them are valuable and fragile, and the owner may put some of them out of the way, like the musical instruments. Families with kids, please note that the remaining pieces of artwork may be tempting play objects, so we ask that you keep an eye on your little ones.
Guest Access:
Guests have exclusive access to the entire property inside and out. The only exceptions are 1) a small locked bedroom in which the owner stores his things while traveling; 2) a locked closet in the main bedroom; 3) the armoire / liquor cabinet in the dining room. We have put notes on those areas. Note that the home is only avaiilable during the owner's (frequent!) travels, so generally you won't encounter him. Occasionally he pops into town and may need a few things from the locked room, but if that happens we'll coordinate with you well ahead of time to minimize any inconvenience.
Other Things to Note:
As you can see in the pictures, this home has many pieces of beautiful artwork, purchased by the owner during his many travels. Some of the pieces are valuable and fragile, and the owner may put some of them out of the way, like the musical instruments. Families with kids, please note that the remaining pieces of artwork may be tempting play objects, so we ask that you keep an eye on your little ones.
The owner travels a lot, and the home is only available during his travels. When he's in town, he uses the home himself, so this Airbnb is only part-time. When he leaves, he stores most of his personal items in a locked room, and in a locked closet in the main bedroom, but you may still see some of his items, like suitcases or articles of clothing. If your preference in Airbnbs is homes that are 100% dedicated to hosting guests, without any owner possessions around, this may not be the place for you.
Occasionally he pops back into town for a few days during his trips, and during those occasions, he may need to briefly enter the home to retrieve a few personal items. We will always coordinate with you about him enterting the home.
Interaction with Guests:
The home is only available during the owner's (frequent!) travels, so you won't interact with him. The property manager lives nearby and is always available if you have questions. You'll have complete privacy.
