Idyllic and peaceful, unbelievable water and sand.
The trees surrounding the property were as lovely as the lake. Really a slice of pure nature. Multiple decks and porches.
We brought fans but the house stayed cool and breezy and we never needed them. Went for a two hour hike in the Nordhouse Dunes trails next door, but spent most of our time at the beach. It is a bit of a hike down to the beach from the house if you have elderly folk with you, but my parents were able to do it at least once a day, and the kids flew up and down with ease. Bring your own beach towels and chairs, but you can leave them at the foot of the stairs so you don’t have to carry them up and down each day. Kitchen was well supplied except for measuring spoons. Some basic spices and a baseline of paper products was really nice. Hope to stay again!!
The house was very spacious and in a beautiful setting. If the weather had been nicer, it would have been better. The house is completely shaded by trees. The beach is beautiful and private. It's 15 minutes to the nearest grocery store. 30 minutes from Ludington or Manistee. Very private.
One of the bedrooms is in the basement - dark and cool - was the coolest room in the house, but our daughters did not want to sleep down there:). Master bedroom is upstairs. 2 other bedrooms on main floor. The house is older. It did not have AC, which got stuffy. We slept with windows open, but with the smoke from Canada fires, that was not great.
I wish we had known that the last 3 miles getting to the house were on a dirt/gravel road. It's the best dirt/gravel road I've ever been on, but none the less, it was not paved. You drive for miles and don't see a house anywhere, but when you get to this house, there are a few others next door.
The house had plenty of pots and pans, towels, games, etc. We cooked in 4 nights and had everything we needed, except for a cheese grater, which we purchased at the store and left for future guests. The grill is charcoal. We did use the fire pit one day.
Owners were great to work with. One of our daughters lost her watch while we were there. Owners found it and mailed it back to us. They are very quick to respond.
All in all, we had a great week.
