Quiet
Husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We were there for the Formula 1 weekend at COTA. Place is situated a in a "woodsy" area of the property and it's nice and quiet. We felt safe. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was nice and well stocked. It was from what we heard, record breaking heat for that time of year at COTA so it was nice to be able to come back to the studio and have the wonderful air conditioning. Studio is equipped with apple TV. Owner is extremely quick with her responses and communication. She even left us a bag of fresh coffee grounds the following day after check in which was nice. The property is about a 10 minute drive to waterloo park which was perfect because that's where we needed to grab our shuttle each day. We did use UBER one night to go out to the city and it was easy. There is a little spot just up the street that has several food trucks which was nice to eat at after our event. We weren't at the property much. We were gone before sunrise and back after sunset. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the price point. The price gouging due to the F1 event I'm sure was to blame so I understand that's standard practice. I just wouldn't pay that again for what it was. I paid triple the going rate but as I mentioned, I understand that's the way things go. :)

Not all bad/Not all good
The inside of the building is quite nice. It’s clearly been renovated. It’s small, which was nice. The shower was nice and the host had it stocked well in the event you forgot something at home (like toothpaste). The property has a lot of junk on it. It’s smack in the middle of several houses, one of which is being renovated. There are cats all over the place (not sure how you feel about that). The rocking chair on the front of the cottage is quite old, dirty and is not something you’d sit on. Big issue. As we packed up to leave, a cockroach (took a picture just in case) squirmed its way out of the bathroom, into the small living area. The host was awesome. She communicated with us very well and was very kind. If you want to get away for a weekend and aren’t really concerned with where you’re sleeping because you won’t be there much, this will do. Otherwise, there’s a lot of work on the property that needs to be done before this is a high quality stay.

Quaint and quiet
Nicely furnished area that felt secluded enough but with the bonus of having the porperty manager close by for questions/concerns. Great bathroom design.

As a Texas native; I enjoy sharing the beautiful Hillcountry and vibrant activity in East Austin with guests from all around the world.

Why they chose this property

I particularly enjoy the eclectic mix of artists and activities on Austin's Eastside. Try rock climbing at Austin Bouldering Project, trapeze at Sky Candy, or pole dancing with the Brass Ovaries.

With more restaurants per capita than most US cities, it's no surprise that east Austin restaurants are really something special. It can be hard to choose between award-winning classics like Franklin's BBQ and Hoover's and off the beaten path gems like Launderette, Justine's, Grizelda's, and Kimuri Tatsu-ya. Many places offer exceptional BBQ, burgers, pizza, or tacos and live music, so its easy to find a cool little place to hang out and meet friends.
