BEWARE AND FIND SOME OTHER PROPERTY FOR A PEACEFUL STAY!!!
I usually do not write bad reviews for anything. But I am compelled to write this review just to vent out my frustration and other main reason is to prevent someone else to go through this. I used VRBO for the first time and booked this property. The reservation was confirmed and had a call with the Robin the property owner to clarify some doubts and told her that we are PLANNING to be there on 5/24 by 8-9PM. I received complete instruction from Robin to open the lock box on the door near drive way. With traffic we could reach the property only by 11.30PM. With clear instructions to open the lock box for the keys, I did not bother to call her to update our delay which is not required. To our surprise, the lock box did not work and we could not get the keys for the property. I tried calling quite a few times Robin and the property manager Frances but they did not answer. With 6-month-old kids middle of the night my primary thought was to find a place to stay safe so, we found a hotel near by paid for one night for 3 rooms and stayed over night. Robin returned the call in the morning and to my surprise she started blaming me that the problem was due to me being late, completely ignoring the fact that the lock box was not working. Met the property manager at 10AM next day and let her open the lock box and it would not. She let us in with the key she had and came to know from her that we were the first folks since September last year and they never checked the lock box. Also, she said she could not find any cleaners since it was start of the season and she tried to do her best. The property was so badly maintained with stains all over the carpet. Frances mentioned there might be some leak from the roof due to rain which threw me off. Thank god it did not rain during our stay. There were live and dead cockroaches as spraying was done that day. The AC in one level did not work, the grill was in a horrible shape and usable. I called the manger and she said she cannot do anything and I need to contact owner. I was so frustrated fighting this out and decided to spend rest of the time adjusting the inconveniences. All my request was to refund me for one night for which we did not stay in her property which was very reasonable. She started ignoring my phone calls and messages. I filed a complaint with VRBO and yet to get a response. Just want to caution others - STAY AWAY. I have many photos evidence but could not upload. Need to find a way to share!!

Beautiful home, great host, loved Nags Head.
House worked very well for our stay. Very clean, well kept, and had everything we needed. The homeowner, Robin, was very attentive and responsive. Would definetly come back to this house if I ever find myself in the Outer Banks again.

All the beds really need new mattresses. You could feel the springs through all the thin mattresses. Took 1/2 hours to get into lock box to get key. Old lock box! It would help to replace with a new box so you are not out in the blowing wind like we were for 1/2 hour trying to get in. A lot of repairs need to be made. Screens missing on screened porch, tape on a lot of other screens, rusted cheap furniture on screen porch, ripped wicker furniture outside, many stains on carpet, mildew on walls and ceiling on screened porch, water leak stains on ceiling in living room. Maybe had a rough summer season and have not had the opportunity to take care of these issues. If these issues were taken care of I would have given it a higher rating. It is a convenient location with a lot of sleeping areas and it did have a well stocked kitchen although we did not have the time for any cooking since we were only there for 2 nights. We did not walk to the beach or anywhere else for that matter since there was pouring rain with 30mph wind gusts. Did enjoy spending time with the relatives.

June Visit
What a nice house and location! We had a fabulous stay and a great week. The pier is only a short walk with plenty of crabs to be had. The house was clean and had all of the amenities. The owner is so nice and very responsive. We found the kitchen to be well stocked with everything that you need to cook and then some. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to spend some quality time on the beach, fishing, or golfing. All of these things are just a short walk from the property.

About the host

A native Philadelphian, I have been vacationing with my family on the Outer Banks since I was ten years old. After college, I purchased the land upon which my house was built and then built the home for my family's enjoyment. The house was designed and decorated with the assistance of my mom and Aunt who cherish their sunset view at dinner.

I am an avid traveler, skier, and family oriented gal. For fun I like to write about my international adventures on my blog.

Why they chose this property

I am an avid traveler and beachgoer. This house was built with my family's interests at heart. This house was built to accommodate extended families for the vacations. This house was built to bring joy. I grew up in the Village of Nags Head. It is my favorite place on the Outer Banks to be with my family for all of its conveniences and pleasures. I am from a large Italian and Armenian family with lots of cousins and cousins' children.

What makes this property unique

The Outer Banks is the one place that my entire family will agree to go to. My dad loves to fish. My brother golfs. My mom and I sit on the beach. I love waking up and running along the beach. The favorite part of our day is cooking dinner. We love to buy fresh fish at Austin's Market or from the local fisherman on Collington. Drink wine while watching sunset. Relax. Slow down. Remember what's important in life.
