About this property
DROGHEDA on Lake Wedowee
New to the rental market! Beautiful three bedrooms (5 beds) and two bathroom home, ideally located at 290 Cedar Valley. Spacious rooms, and lovely space ideal for a family vacation home away from home.
Drogheda is a BEAUTIFUL lot that sits on a point on Lake Wedowee. The total area of the property is approximately 1 acre and is flat. There is No walking up and down steep stairs to get to the water! There is a wraparound porch where water can be seen in every direction. There is a new deck off of the back porch which is a great place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a nice, peaceful evening at night. Lake Wedowee is a manmade lake controlled by Alabama Power; therefore, the water level is lowered every year starting around November and begins rising in April. There is no water from about December through March except for the part where the Little Tallapoosa River constantly flows. I have seen boats go by in December and in March. There is FULL lake water by May 1st all the way through October!!!
If you bring your boat or Jet Ski, please let me know! You are welcome to use the boat dock to park your boat, but please DO NOT use the lift as it is fitted specifically for my personal boat. You may want to just tie up on the side of the dock as I find that is easiest. You many use the Jet Ski lift as well. Make sure to have lifejackets, registration, and identification available. Wedowee marine patrol is known to pull people over just to check registration and safety equipment.
The dock makes for a GREAT place to sit and watch all the water activities that go on or just to sit and have a cocktail. Fishing off the dock is permitted. I have some rods and equipment there for you to use if you want. The BEST thing about the dock is that it is STATIONARY! You don’t have to worry about getting sea sick from when boat waves come by. This is rare as most docks on Lake Wedowee are floating docks.
Another great amenity is the huge fire pit that is there. I have 6 Adirondack chairs sitting around the fire pit for your enjoyment. There may or may not be firewood for you to burn so bring you own if you think it is something you will want to do while you’re there.
The location of the house is perfect! You are out in nature, but the grocery store is only about 8 minutes away. Wedowee is a very small town with A LOT of cute stores. See next page for additional information about downtown.
There is a boat launch at Lakeside Market on Hwy 431 across the street from the South Marina. If you want to launch your boat/jet ski AND park you vehicle there, you must go into the BP convenient store and pay $5. If you are just putting in or taking out a watercraft, it is free. You basically are paying for parking is what I have been told.

About the host
Hosted by Louise Reeves

I am a retired high school math teacher and coach. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 1991. I was a Zeta. I taught school until 2018 when I moved home to take care of my elderly parents. I play a lot of pickleball and volunteer with a couple of local organizations that help feed families in need. I travel around the world a lot. I like to see the different kinds of cultures in other parts of the world. I love the theatre and going out to dinner. I spend way too much money at Wal-Mart and Lowes and love to do projects around the house. I love spending my summers at the lake with my friends out on the boat.
