Are you coming to Sarasota on vacation or perhaps considering moving here? If yes, then the Carriage House is the perfect place to use as a base camp while you explore the area and experience the best that Sarasota has to offer. Stay 7 nights or more!

The Carriage House is right in the heart of everything. Very safe and easy walk to literally dozens of casual restaurants, cool bars and interesting shops. 5 minute walk to Selby Gardens. 10 minute walk and you are at the Sarasota Bayfront. That's a great place to enjoy the sunset. The hustle and bustle of main street is just half a mile away. They have an awesome farmer's market every Saturday morning year round. If you prefer the beach, drive 10 minutes South to Siesta Key, home of #1 beach in the USA. You are less than 4 miles from St. Armands Circle and Lido Key. It's always sunny in Sarasota and you will never run out of things to do. We provide tons of amenities including bikes, kayaks, beach chairs and a beach umbrella.

This place is so much better than a hotel room. You will have your own private guest house with nobody above or below. Main bed is a King sized luxury memory foam mattress from Tuft and Needle. Sofa pulls out to a surprisingly comfortable twin size memory foam bed. We are neat freaks. The Carriage House will be immaculately clean. Free clothes washer and dryer. Tons of amenities including; snacks, cold beverages, coffee pods, toiletries and laundry detergent. Lightning fast wifi, bikes, kayaks, beach chairs, umbrella and more available for your use and enjoyment.

Here are my top ten recommendations on things to do:
1. Start your day at Fresh Start Cafe (.2 miles, 4 min walk). The food is outstanding.
2. Walk to Selby Gardens (.4 miles, 8 min walk). World Class botanical gardens.
3. Main Street (.5 miles, 11 min walk) is packed with boutiques and restaurants.
4. Hop an Uber or drive to the Ringling museum (4.6 miles)
5. For amazing seafood, eclectic decor and live entertainment, try Owen's Fish Camp. It is .3 miles away, only a 6 minute walk.
6. Burn's Court Cinema is right next door to Owens. Not your run of the mill cineplex. It is a small theater offering first-run foreign, independent & art films along with beer, wine & popcorn.
7. St. Armand's Circle shopping and entertainment district is 3.4 miles away. Great people watching, coffee shops and boutiques.
8. Want to go to the beach? Lido Beach is consistently rated as one of the best beaches in the US. It is 4.1 miles away, about a 12 minute drive.
9. Want an up close experience with the creatures of the sea? Try Mote Marine Laboratory, it is 4.7 miles from your front door. This aquarium has: Sharks, lionfish, jellyfish, etc. You can pet stingrays, horseshoe crabs, sea cucumbers, starfish, and urchins. There's also a giant squid preserved in a tank.
10. Bayfront Park is .6 miles away, about a 13 minute walk. It has the bay on one side and downtown Sarasota on the other side. Wait for the sunset in the evenings and you will never be bored, because the pelicans entertain you. Good spot to see wild dolphins. Try O'Leary's Tiki Bar and Grill. Sunset ferry available too!

A quick but fun stay

This above-the-garage apartment was clean and functional. The host family members, who live in the main house, were lovely and ready to answer all questions. The location is midway between downtown Sarasota and the fun southside neighborhood. I would stay here again.

Our first time staying in Sarasota and we wanted to stay in a location that was walking distance to downtown. The place where we stayed was all around perfect. Had everything we needed. Nicely equipped cottage house in great location!

My husband and I enjoyed the cozy cottage house for 6 nights; it had the perfect amount of space for the two of us and was well stocked. The location is near many restaurants and downtown Sarasota -- many within walking distance. Stephanie, the owner, was quick communicating and very gracious (always asked if we needed anything more) - thank you! We used the beach bag, cooler, beach towels, beach chairs & umbrella that were available in the house (great since we traveled from out of the state). You cannot be the feasibility, convenience and location this cottage house had to offer!

Lovely vacation spot in Sarasota

Great location in Sarasota - one can walk everywhere in downtown Sarasota. The pictures are accurate. It is a spotless and well maintained remodeled top floor of a carriage house and has everything one or two people need - well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, nice linens and an outdoor space with a table and chairs on a patio. Stephanie is delightful and communicated very well with any questions we had. We would stay here again when we are in Sarasota. Thank you, Stephanie for a wonderful week in Laurel Park!!

Quant but misleading quite a lot

On the plus side, bed was comfortable, place was very clean, and the snacks were a nice touch. Nothing is stated that it is above a garage with many stairs, so just be aware with your packing weight. The "About this rental" is very inaccurate and quite misleading. It's states 1 bedroom and in reality this is a studio w/ kitchen cubby use only. There is no separate room for the bed, it's studio. The "2 Beds" is the couch which would have to be moved against the bed in order to fit. I was going to have a friend stay with me but upon arrival I quickly realized it would have been inappropriate and incredibly awkward. The microwave would not function and gave F4 error every time you attempted to use it. No kettle and "Stove", uh no. Please don't expect most people to understand that a "Waring Pro Series" is not an actual stove top, but a portable burner, which makes cooking an actual meal about impossible in this space. 1 ply toilet paper, really? States Wifi 100+ Mbps, I only received 10-12 Mbps... the entire time. So much potential and so inaccurate that if my wife was with me she would have demanded a refund and find alternative accomodations.

Our stay was great. Clean and in a nice location. Lots of “extra” stuff was a nice touch. Beach towels, small cooler, beach bag, snacks, sunscreen. They really go the extra mile. Great communication and fast response time as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Great space, everything just as listed and photos are totally accurate. The location cannot be beat. We walked to Main Street every night for dinner. Very safe area. The unit is clean, well stocked, the water pressure is amazing, and the bed is comfortable. Stephanie was readily available if we needed her, but was not invasive at all. While we resided only for one night, we enjoyed this carriage house immensely! The bikes added alot more fun to see the area without needing to get into the car. Conveniently located to resturants and shopping. The bikes were an added amenity that allowed us to venture to a little park overlooking the bay that had the perfect spot to catch the sunset!
