About this property

Mid Century Stunner on the Chain O'Lakes

A perfect blend of home and cabin nestled right on the channel to Pistakee Lake, which is on the famed Chain O'Lakes region of northern Illinois. Just minutes away from restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, and local watering holes. A scenic 30 minutes from Six Flags Great America, Great Wolf Lodge and Gurnee Mills. A short 15 minutes from skiing at Wilmot Mountain Ski Resort in the winter. Here you'll be surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, hikes, fishing, boating, and comfort.

Located in the heart of Illinois' largest concentration of natural lakes, you'll find our 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home that was built in 1959 and is situated on a quiet, neighborly and scenic channel to Pistakee Lake. This is a 1250 sq. foot home on a nicely sized 1/4 acre lot, easily accessible and just off the beaten path.

Featuring thoughtful vintage touches throughout, such as an original mid-century formica dining set, mid century modern corner bar complete with tin tile ceiling and crown molding when you first enter, to original wood flooring and ceramic tile in kitchens, baths, and useful mixed-use mudroom/laundry area. Each room has an abundance of natural lighting, complimented by comfortable, clean and neat linens.

Our outdoor space includes a fire pit as well as a grill for outdoor cooking! The grill is generally a seasonal option (spring to late fall) and is wrapped up during the winter.

The brightly colored kitchen features a half wall with butcher block counter, which opens into the dining area. A Berkey water filtration system is here for your use, a coffee maker and grinder awaits coffee lovers. The vintage inspired, yet energy efficient bright red Big Chill refrigerator is the real centerpiece and lends itself well to the vintage aesthetic. Gas stove, dishware and cutlery service for 6.

Bedroom one features a twin-sized bunk bed and a cozy writing desk and chair in a knotty pine walled room with parquet flooring and unique dimmable lighting and an adjustable speed ceiling fan.

Bedroom two features a full-sized vintage bed set complete with vanity, large windows, wood flooring, ceiling fan and plenty of closet space. Thoughtful linens and comfortable mattress assure a restful night's sleep.

Bedroom three features a plush king-sized bed with comfortable linens, parquet flooring, power on both sides of the bed for charging your devices, and a wall mounted flat screen television with built-in Roku box for winding down. This bedroom is where you will witness some very stellar sunrises, as it faces the water.

Both bathrooms feature classic neutral colors, pedestal sinks, dual flush toilets and plush towels. The full bathroom features a wall mount shampoo/conditioner/body wash trio from Rudy's Barbershop, which is made in the USA utilizing green facilities and technologies, is sulfate and paraben free, and never tests on animals and 100% complimentary for your stay.

The living room is the crown jewel of the home, with a prominent stone gas-start fireplace, parquet flooring, a massive bay window reading nook, with plenty of board games and books to thumb through. A true bird watchers paradise, robust with natural light and comfortable touches including binoculars and birding guides. In the evening, wind down and watch television on our full wall projection television with connected Roku, and extremely comfortable couches.

All parts of the home, with exception to the garage and the closet in the small knotty pine room are fully accessible to guests. Our home features keyless entry and intelligent lighting. The driveway easily fits many vehicles.

Charming house with a beautiful backyard
We had such a good time at this property. The pictures do not do it justice. The yard is beautiful landscaped right on the channel. The house had games, a telescope, and binoculars for bird watching. Steps away from dining on the water. Will definitely be back!

Great weekend venue
Convenient location to shopping and services while also a quiet setting on the lake. Lots of board games and a massive projection wall for movies. Also appreciated the coffee grinder and French press to serve the coffee addiction…

They are fortunate to work from home, so they spend half of their time at their mid-century lake home and half in the city. It's the best of both worlds!
