Quiet and Tranquil
I’ve stayed with Cooper a number of times and it’s always a pleasure. I enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of life these days. The farmhouse gives me a place to disconnect, relax, and refresh. I’ll be back.

Marion Military Graduation Weekend
We had a great stay at the historic home and loved all that it offered. It was conveniently located just outside of town, approximately 8 minutes from the school and on a beautiful plantation. We traveled the day before graduation arriving a little early therefore we took full advantage of walking the plantation and learning about its history. That night to pass the time, we played dominoes and card games and we enjoyed lots of quality family conversation. On Saturday, we attended my son's graduation from MMI. We will definitely stay here again when we travel back for alumni weekend. ❤️

I am a sixth generation farmer that enjoys sharing my passion of the land, my family heritage and love of the Black Belt region of Alabama. Meeting new people, learning, eating and traveling are all things I appreciate in life.

Why they chose this property

We are located on Holmestead farm where you can tour the historic grounds and enjoy the wonderful architecture of over 20 farm buildings and nature at its best. My family settled this property in 1819 and is one of the oldest and last active continuous farms in the state of Alabama. We are located in the heart of the Black Belt of Alabama, known for its fertile soil, antebellum architecture, rich culture and birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement.

We are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

What makes this property unique

Most of the time I will be around to greet you during your stay.

For an additional cost I am available as a personal tour guide to give you a unique experience of the farm and the Black Belt area. There are several tour options covering Antebellum homes and museums, Architecture and Civil Rights, historic downtown revitalization and community development projects we have going on throughout our communities of Marion, Greensboro, Eutaw, Demopolis and Selma.
