Set in a majestic private forest on a gentle knoll overlooking the south end of Lake Coeur d’Alene, the Selby Knoll Estate provides a serene, natural experience in the heart of Northern Idaho. This simple, tasteful Prairie-style influenced retreat complex is nestled deep in a conservation easement owned by the original homestead family. The two homes were designed for privacy but are closely adjacent to one another off a quiet, county-maintained gravel road with no neighbors in sight.
The open plan of the main house features a gourmet kitchen and dining area with native stone trim and granite countertops flowing into great room with a towering forest view
coming through carefully arraigned windows and skylights, all furnished with an uncluttered Asian-influenced esthetic reflecting the owners’ many years overseas in the Far East. Completing the main floor is a spacious bedroom with a tasteful bathroom with private forest views.
The guest house also is simple and functional, with red oak floors and granite kitchen countertops and furnished with a similar uncluttered Asian-influenced esthetic. The large great room has the kitchen, dining, socializing and twin beds. Completing the main floor is the master bedroom with a queen bed under a Javanese wall carving, and the recently-remodeled bathroom with private forest views. The basement affords access to the main floor and the washer and dryer.
Stepping outside brings you to a landscaped pond area in the main house courtyard and decks off both houses under old growth pines and firs. The three acres of park-like, towering forest glen surrounding the home is yours to explore, with paths leading to two satellite decks offering filtered views up and down Lake Coeur d’Alene. Encounters on the property with white tailed deer are common, plus moose, elk, and black bear sightings from time to time.
WHAT’S NEARBY
At the end of the road few miles to the south, lies Idaho Fish and Game's Round Lake Sportsman Access. A few miles to the north on a scenic lakeside drive is Harrison, with a marina, general store, dining, antiques, a premier ice cream parlor, plus comprehensive aquatic and cycle rentals, all on the portal to the incredible Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. Farther afield is all the four-season wonderland of North Idaho has to offer with its lakes, rivers, National Forests, and world-class bike trails and parks.
THINGS TO KNOW
Due to the woodland location, the paths are un-improved and steep in spots.
Everything in the home is up to code, but there are porch and deck areas with no railings.
Wood fires are not allowed inside or out to protect our family forest and respect our wildlife. Use extreme caution when using the gas grill.
If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the nightly pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting "Yes" to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The nightly fee ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.
Parking notes: There is free parking available for 4 vehicles.
Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.
More information can be downloaded from the "Rental Agreement" on the checkout page.
Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 21 years of age to book. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.
