About this property

Million dollar ocean view

Off grid life is the best life and I love to share it with you .
Above the cliffs overlooking world famous surf spot kilometer 38 Rosarito beach Baja California.
There are three different structures on this property. They all rent separately . Each has a dynamic view of the mountains and ocean as far as the eye can see.
Loft house, single apartment, and artist studio (seperate rental) nestled in the pristine mountainous, private neighborhood called San Rafael.
People come here from all over the world just to climb the famous el Coronel mountain and to view the world, famous statue of the sacred heart, Jesus Christ. Both are walkable from the front door.
This is a great place to do some artwork and meditate, go surfing and hiking.. you are on a dirt road and it is fit for any kind of car unless there are torrential rains (February/Marchish) Then there’s some pretty big puddles.
I will send you a video of how to get from the main road all the way up to the house so you don’t get lost. Also, when you book please call me at my house so that we can connect before you go on up the hill. I want to make sure you are comfortable and safe and you get there without any disruptions.
Please note that we are partially off grid so the house has water tanks. they are full when u arrive and last me two weeks when I stay. If you run the water out you will pay $20 to refill when the truck shows up.

The only way to visit Mexico
From the beginning it was meant for me 😊 from the clarity of the owner making sure we were able to safely understand how to get to her location, being available when I got lost lol even suggested local places to go. this is the best off grid home equipped with all necessities. I was able to cook all my delicious meals, paint in the artist loft, I truly am thankful for you providing this space. please book and enjoy mexico 🇲🇽 properly

A few hiccups that were preventable
This property had me at first sight. New listing with a low rate equals adventure in my book. What a hard lesson learned. We tried to establish contact with the property owner prior to booking, but received no response. We proceeded to book anyway. On day of arrival, there was still no response to my messages from the owner on the app. Instead, i tried direct phone calls and text messages but nothing came back in return. Proceeded to contact Customer Service, 3 different agents tried to reach property owner while i was lost on a country hillside on a dirt road that was sinking from the recent torrential rains the region experienced. The cell phone signal for our location was terrible, which led to numerous dropped calls. Now 9 pm, Vrbo Customer Service advises us to book another accommodation since the owner was not reachable. The only listing we could find was literally two hours South in the valley. Imagine being lost on unpaved roads on a hillside at night only to learn you need to travel an additional 2 hours because your property contact is missing in action. Approximately 36 hours later the property owner contacted me. She stated the following: 1. She had no clue about the booking. 2. 36 hours into my reservation she just recieved my messages. 3. “Why didn’t you just call me?” responses 4. “Vrbo didn’t do this… didn’t do that.” 5. “I’m not in Mexico, I have a Property Manager.” She only responded to my text messages in the morning. Otherwise, she never answered my phone calls, app or text messages in the afternoon or evening. Vrbo refunded me and I wished the owner well. The area is mostly unpaved dirt roads, that are very muddy and unstable right down due to recent rains. This is mid-March 2023. This property is part of a community that is under development, but does not have paved roads, street signs, or lighting for nighttime travel. If you book you better have a vehicle with a high clearing, good tires, and torque to climb them hillsides. Some of the dirt roads were ruined in the rain and are quite dangerous to travel. Book with caution. My only wish is that the owner took more responsibility for the process and had a better attitude about making me whole while on travel. She had an attitude that seemed dismissive and unprofessional, with zero hospitality.

I have two different vacation rentals, the one in Baja here and one in Palm Springs California. I am an artist, a yoga enthusiast, and a surfer that loves the outdoors.

Why they chose this property

I have lived in Baja since 1997 and I bought this lot as raw land over 30 years ago. I finally developed it and put my little surf shack and across the property I put an artist studio and an apartment on top of that. Even after all of these years, the wilderness around me is still rugged and the neighborhood that I live in is extremely sparse. There are only 10 houses here. Nothing has changed in 20 years. My little surf spot is still the best surf spot this side of Mexico or California. The food, the hiking, the water sports the people the art all of heaven is here.

What makes this property unique

I am so happy that I don’t have a house right on the beach anymore, because it’s far too crowded . I built up on the hill above my favorite surf spot so I can check the surf from my upstairs loft bedroom window every morning. I can be found working in the art studio, which is a separate structure on the property when there’s no surf. You can also rent the art studio to stay in because it’s all windows from top to bottom and what a dynamic place to spend the night especially in a rainstorm. The third property that you can rent is the single apartment above the art studio. I think it has the best views of all the structures on the property.
