About this property
Charming barn style house in historic village center
This barn style house is in the historic center of Norfolk, on a quiet street, surrounded by trees and gardens. Norfolk is home to Infinity Hall for live music, Great Mountain Forest, Haystack Mountain and Campbell Falls State Parks for hiking, swimming, biking, cross country skiing and more. The town is also home to many writers and artists, with frequent performances and shows at the library and the music shed. The property is close to all the Berkshires has to offer, including theater, music, restaurants, and outdoor recreation. It is 20 minutes to Butternut ski area and 25 minutes to the center of Great Barrington.
The property is an acre and has two houses, one of which is occupied by long term tenants. The house in this listing is built in the style of a barn and furnished with many reclaimed pieces and unique touches. The ground floor was a woodworking shop and storage space, with the house being on the second and third floors. The second floor contains the kitchen and open living room and dining area, as well as the main bedroom, bathroom, and a bonus room that has a full size billiards table. The third floor has one large bedroom with three beds, a closet and a desk/work area. There is also an outdoor covered sitting area with a table and a fire pit, which you are welcome to use. You can use the entire unit, patio and outdoor dining area attached to the house, and the yard. The tools and equipment in the workshop are not available for use, although you may store bikes or sports equipment in the space if need be.
It is an ideal retreat for a couple or small family looking to spend some time in a quiet and beautiful New England town. Children are allowed but please know this place is not baby or toddler proof. Please reach out if you have any specific questions.
As mentioned, there is another house on the property with two long term residents. Please respect their privacy and the tranquility of the area - no parties. The town also does not permit short term rentals so there is a minimum required stay.
There is a washer and dryer available for use on the property, located off the back porch of the main house.
Someone will be available to meet you upon arrival, give you keys, and a tour. There are also detailed instructions at the property that should answer most questions you might have. And please reach out with any questions - always happy to help!
There are two sets of stairs leading to the third floor. Because the original set descended into the bathroom (an unusual feature needless to say) we use the set that does not run into the bathroom to ensure privacy.
