About this property

Welcome to the Redfern Beach Cottage, named for its convenient location near Redfern Village and the beach! You will find many of St. Simons' best restaurants and shops in Redfern Village, including Gnat's Landing, Bubba Garcia's, Catch 228, and Fancy Q Sushi Bar and Grill. Redfern Beach Cottage is in a residential neighborhood in an area that is great for bike riding and walking. You'll only be about 2.2 miles from the popular East Beach and Coast Guard Station, but you're never far from a beach access no matter where you go. St. Simons has approximately 41 public beach access points across the south end of the island!
This lovely home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed. The master bathroom, located in the master bedroom, has a walk-in shower AND a tub! The second bedroom has a bunk bed, with a queen mattress on bottom and twin on top. The third bedroom has a queen bed. The second bathroom boasts a tiled shower/tub combo and a convenient vanity area to get ready in the mornings. There is only one TV in the house located in the living room.
If you get tired of going to the beach or shopping everyday, you can enjoy a day in by hanging out in the game room (equipped with a foosball table), taking in the breeze on the screened back porch, or relaxing in the yard around the fire pit! This house has a roomy fenced back yard, perfect for children or your furry friend! If you bring a pet (dogs only), there will be a non-refundable $200 pet fee added to your reservation.

Dirty and poor maintenance

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was dirty. There was rat/mouse poop coming out every day from the ceiling in the master bathroom, the master closet was smelly and dirty, the sheets didn’t feel clean, the backyard hadn’t been swept in forever and we had to do it. The front half door would close on you so hard it hurt and there was even a cockroach crawling on my husband’s arm in the middle of the night in the bed. Awful. The furniture was old, the carpet was horrible in the living room (we had to clean it as we had a 1-year old crawling over it), the drawers wouldn’t close and open properly, there were two coffee makers without coffee pots , they gave us 2 rolls of toilet paper for a week stay, and the list goes on and on. We have been coming to Saint Simon’s for 10+ years and this is by far the worst place we have ever stayed at. The bad review that was left a little while ago on VRBO was accurate and we should have listened to it. We payed way too much for this place. What was positive about the stay: late checkout was made possible which was really nice, location was great, and backyard (although dirty) was awesome.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The layout and size of the house was great, but its contents is outdated and the cleanliness was only good. The couch, floors and window dressings were not clean and pans were scratched and in need of replacement. The outside property was maintained while we were there.
