My daughter and I really enjoyed our quiet little house. Dylis and Peter are very attentive owners. They checked in to make sure that everything was in order. It really is an idyllic place - with all the comforts of home and the added entertainment of wandering turkeys!

Dear Katherine & Madeline,
Thank you for your lovely review of our "idyllic" cottage. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay here and hope to see you back again.

We loved this cottage! The house is very clean and comfortable, well equipped for cooking and grilling, which we did almost every day. We really enjoyed meeting our hosts, Peter and Dilys were friendly and welcoming. One of the best parts was picking up fresh veggies from the farm stand right in the front yard!

We had another wonderful stay at the cottage. So comfortable, and everything we needed to feel right at home! Besides the fully equipped kitchen, cozy king bed, awesome indoor and outdoor showers, the thing that always gets me is the way the air moves through this house! With windows on all sides and skylights the ocean air sails through the space in the most delicious way!

Beautiful relaxing cottage
Our family has been visiting the outer cape for the last 12 years and this is the most charming, unique, and relaxing home we have ever rented. The cottage was perfect for our needs, with a loft which was a great place for our kids to sleep. Our hosts were so gracious and welcoming; we even got a private tour of the organic farm! It was very special to be able to visit the farm stand each morning and stock up on the local produce before heading to the beautiful beach, which was right at the end of the road.

Beautiful cottage in perfect location
We truly loved our stay on Longnook Meadows Farm. The cottage is exactly as it shows in the pictures, the kitchen is fully equipped, the beautiful living room was relaxing to hang out in, and the bedrooms were comfortable, all with excellent lighting as we are big readers. We biked to the nearby ocean and bay beaches and took long hikes in the National Sea Shore. Peter and Dilys are a delight to chat with, incredibly helpful with giving information about the area, and their farm is magnificent. We highly recommend this wonderful place, and can't wait to return.

Cozy cottage near Longnook Beach
We love staying at this cottage!!! We've been coming for three years now and always look forward to it. Peter and Dilys are lovely!! They always make sure you have everything you need yet are never intrusive. The cottage has everything you need - grill, all the pots, pans and kitchen appliances/utensils you need, w/d, outdoor shower, games/puzzles for bad weather - and the house very clean and well kept. It's perfect for the 3 of us (me, my husband and our 10 y/o daughter). Longnook Beach is a 5 minutes drive at the end of the street or a nice walk/bike ride. Just be sure to get there early for parking.

Heaven on Earth
Dilys and Peter have wonderfully preserved (and upgraded) their generational property. Their Farm allowed us to embrace the quiet and serenity of the Old Cape. But it is also within easy access of many of the contemporary Cape establishments, beaches, bike trails, parks and golf course between P'Town and Orleans. The serene Cottage is so-well designed! On our first day, with windows and skylights open, it really felt that the outdoors was brought right into the living space. The king-size bed can be it's own retreat, and the shower is heavenly! The rear lawn can provide privacy for sunbathing, reading, and grilling. Our stay at the Cottage allowed for perfectly lazy days. The Cottage can easily be part of your vacation enjoyment!
Dilys and Peter, Your efforts and work with the entire property can readily be seen, and Jim and I would like to thank you once again for sharing this idyllic spot with all of us. Like many of your previous guests, we too hope to return for another visit.

We’ll be back!
What can we write that hasn’t previously been written about the cottage at Longnook Meadows Farm? Perhaps the best thing to report is that as of May 2015, the magic of a stay here continues. It is everything this website shows and more. The setting is wonderful. The cottage is bright and airy with new kitchen appliances, very tasteful appointments and oh, so clean! Best of all, comfortable and relaxing. Trees, shrubs and flowers fill the beautiful yard, making either the front porch or backyard a perfect place for a morning coffee.
Quintessential hosts Peter and Dilys are warm and accommodating—respectful of your privacy, though ready to be found at a moment’s notice should you need them. They are always spot-on with a good recommendation for dinner or some fun Cape activity—Truro or Wellfleet galleries and dining, P-town shopping and restaurants, Truro Vineyards, Cape Cod Light and beautiful Longnook beach. A special connection? The farm supplies local restaurants, Blackfish in Truro, Mac’s Shack in Wellfleet, and others with their organic produce.
You know it’s the perfect place when you are planning a return trip the day you arrive (and we are!). We absolutely recommend Longnook Meadows Farm Cottage for your Cape Cod stay.

Perfect !
Solid one-bedroom house, well decorated and equiped, very aery with large rooms, a lot of light and cross-ventilation thanks to windows on all sides and in the roof (opening skylights). If hot, the two large fans are very effective. Outside, you can sit either in the shade on the porch with hanging flower baskets and view the beautiful owners' house and the farm further down the hill, or at the table at the back of the house to be totally private. At the back is an outdoor shower, so you can get rid of sand before going inside.
The house is well located in the Outer cape, the part of Cape Cod we like for its calm (except on route 6 !), its variety of beaches and the charm of Wellfleet and Provincetown. Truro center (a small store and a post office) is about one mile away. Longnook beach is one mile away on the ocean; it is not a tourist beach so it is uncrowded. You can easily bike to Corn hill beach on the bay side, if you walk your bike up the Elmira to Joseph connector lane. Peter told us all about the little dirt roads to cycle on starting from the house (expect sandy and uphill stretches) to go south and north without having to go on route 6.
Peter and Dylis are the owners of Longnook organic farm, so you can get your vegetables at their stand in the driveway entrance. You can get honey from the farm too; it is excellent !

We loved our stay here. So relaxing. Everything was very well thought out. Very comfy bed, well organized kitchen, beautiful, comfortable sitting area. Outdoor shower was fun! Indoor shower was excellent. A great location for jumping on your bike and having access to numerous trails or Longnook Beach in 8 minutes. Our hosts were very helpful with information about the area and sweet and responsive in general. The property was very peaceful. Oh, and the porch was really a delightful place to relax. We would definitely return. Just right.

Peacefull and quite . Just the way Mary and I wanted it . We would very much like to going back to longnook meadows . The owners were very nice and not intrusive at all .
We frequently visit the Outer Cape. This is the best place we have ever rented. The setting is lovely and we really enjoyed the beautiful spring daffodils. The cottage was beautiful. The living/dining room was so comfortable with two couches and windows on all sides letting in wonderful light. The kitchen had everything we needed with up-to-date appliances including a convection oven and fantastic refrigerator. The bathroom featured a large custom shower. that was one of our favorite features. The owners were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Check-in and check-out were seamless. We hope to return and strongly recommend this perfect cottage.

About the host
Hosted by dilys staaterman
This property , located on 10 acres, has been in our family since 1940. I have spent every summer of my life here, and since retiring 9 years ago my husband and I have devoted our time and energy into developing an organic vegetable farm and now sell to many restaurants, stores, and at our farmstand.
Why they chose this property
We offer serenity and privacy as well as proximity to a beautiful beaches and many bike and walking trails. We also are only 9 miles from Provincetown where there are many fine restaurants, activities, art galleries and theater.
What makes this property unique
I have been taking care of and renting the main house on the property since I was 18. The cottage was totally renovated in 2007 with all the modern amenities. So while we are relatively close, living in the main house, we also understand completely the need for privacy for our renters. We are also a source of information for travelers. We welcome all!
