We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and it suited our needs very well for a group of 14 people, including the newlywed grandparents. Much kayaking and s’mores around the fire.
Weather was perfect, and we loved being so close to the dunes, Fishtown, and Traverse City.
The perfect cottage and location for our family of 14.
Being on the water with the boat ramp less than a mile away was extremely convenient. The cottage, being on over four acres, gave us extra room and privacy.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Parvaresh
I grew up in East Grand Rapids, MI. I am the middle child of seven. My parents purchased this property in 1979. It has become a treasured gathering place for my siblings and I as children, our children, and our grandchildren. My parents loved this place and spent all of their summers here. I am honored to own it with my sister, and to share it with visitors. Sunny Knoll offers spaciousness indoors and out, with loads of the natural beauty Leelanau County is known for.
Why they chose this property
The sun rises over the lake and sets into the hills. On cool mornings, steam rises from the lake. Swans and Ducks and sometimes Otters can be seen in the lake. Kayaks are available at the shore, and there is a clothes line for wet towels and life jackets. It is a peaceful place. Neighbors can not been seen and usually not heard, unless there is a band playing at Fountain Point across the lake. A "NO WAKE" zone begins at the boat house, so there is plenty of opportunity to watch and wave as they go slowly by. The fire pit is perfect for roasting smores, or having conversation with friends and family, or looking up at the stars.
What makes this property unique
Roomy - Homey - Historical. This property is large, six large bedrooms (except for the one that the maid used to use as a work room - the one with the back stairs). Three full bathrooms. A roomy, sunny kitchen. Two large dining tables seat 16 easily. Room in the yard to play Wiffle ball, Badminton, Frisbee, or explore the woods. Some of the trees are the largest of their species in the county. The large garage offers a place to play ping pong or corn hole toss in the event of rain. The extra refrigerator in the garage is a big plus as well.
