The house was easy to get to and convenient to everything in Augusta. The backyard was full of things for our kids to play with and they had a good time
I found this nice home for the weekend to catch up on some Musical work for future projects. I love the nostalgia feel, and it's almost hidden in plain sight. For me, that is luxury.
Thank You Ms Sherri, you were wonderful
We were coming to Augusta during the aftermath of Hurricane Helene for the funeral of our niece who had been killed by falling trees. The host could not have been more accommodating. When we first spoke there was no electricity but through the week we updated and were able to go when it was back on. The house was a complete surprise: very much like our Granny's house in Atlanta. In the dining room was a buffet almost an exact copy of my grandmother's. Plus the beds were nice. Kitchen well supplied. Built almost at the same time. And unbeknownst to us it turned out to be 1/2 mile from the church!
When we first entered the location, it smelled strongly of cat pee and a folding room divider that was blocking the hot water heater from view fell on my daughter's head! There were plastic forks and solo cups in the kitchen, along with an assortment of about 5-6 mis-matched plates. There were a couple of knives and forks in a drawer. No ice in the freezer, no coffee, no salt or pepper, and two pans. The occupant upstairs was walking around at 3am. Way too many mirrors in the place - maybe in an attempt to make it feel bigger. There was a half-inflated damp mattress on the floor with a cot in a spare, empty room. A drying clementine in the corner of our bedroom. The largest cockroach I have seen outside of Texas, and did I mention the smell of cat pee?? There was no remote for the TV, and the host told me the internet was out for the entire city, which was NOT true, as we had teammates for our event emailing and texting without issue. I tried to contact our host directly to clarify how getting into the property was supposed to work, because it was a little tricky, coming behind the house in an alley, but all I got was a voicemail. And no one tried to call me back. Regardless, we worked it out. I did try to secure a room at an hotel because I was willing to spend more to NOT stay at this house, but everywhere was booked. Suffice to say, my daughters and I felt unsafe and ill at ease the entire night. The home felt odd, unclean and shifty. DON'T BOOK HERE!
