They did not tell us until after we got there that they always boil the water when they stay there. There were things there that other guests complained about that they never changed. The water wasn't even turned on , so obviously the place wasn't cleaned. The were good about refunding our money.

Hi Mary,
I sincerely apologize for your experience. This is not the level of service we aim to provide. My cleaner had confirmed to me that the property was fully prepared, and I regret that this was clearly not the case upon your arrival.
As this was the first booking of the season, there were unfortunately some oversights that should have been caught beforehand. I take full responsibility for that. Based on your feedback, I have since replaced the cleaner to ensure this does not happen again.
I also appreciate you bringing up the concerns about the water and previous guest feedback—those issues are now being addressed so future guests won’t encounter the same problems.
Thank you for your understanding, and I’m glad we were able to process your refund promptly.
We had a wonderful 4 days stay. The location is peaceful and quiet with beautiful views. The house was clean and the host communicated well. Would definetly stay again.
We had a wonderful vacation. The property has a great beach. Kids had tons of fun. We would love to come back next year.

Thank you so much for the compliment, Aviva. I am glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay, and I am looking forward to host you again next year!!!
The property was just as described. The sunsets were stunning. We saw a fox family on two evenings playing in the neighbor’s yard. The remote location is perfect if you want to get away from it all in a rural area. The host was responsive and friendly.
The property is beautiful and it was so nice to be so close to the water. Sunset view and fire pit out back were fun bonuses. Everything went smoothly and as expected. We enjoyed our stay, thank you!

Thank you very for a great review. I am glad you’ll enjoyed it. I hope to host you again.
The property was absolutely lovely, and well equipped to entertain a group for a weekend away. The extra amenities were greatly appreciated (bikes, grill, kayak) and the neighbors were incredibly friendly. We highly recommend for a weekend getaway from the city!

The house is beautiful and very clean, not as isolated as we thought based on listing. View amazing, needed lots of bug spray- but were notified of this by owner ahead of time, so it was all good.

Thank you very much for a great review Joan. I am grateful you and your family enjoyed and absorbed the tranquility of the place. I hope to host you again soon.
Perfect area to spend some time in a kayak or sunning on the small, private beach directly behind the house. Our toddler had a blast in the house and running around by the water collecting sea glass.

Hi Heather,
I am glad you and your family enjoyed staying at my property and thank you for a fantastic review. I am looking forward to hosting you again.
Delightful little place for a getaway. Truly uncrowded ...we sat on the beach all day, reading and other than the neighbor going for a beach walk, saw no one. So if you're looking for a Ocean City experience, this is not the place for you!!

I had extremely high hopes based on the initial correspondence with the renter. He was very responsive and even went above and beyond to address my concerns prior to our stay. He went so far as to send me video of the "private beach" access as this was the primary reason for us booking the location and I was concerned about just how much shoreline we'd have access to. Prior to our arrival he warned us to bring bug spray as the temps were warming up and they were becoming more prevalent and I thanked him for the heads up. Little did I know how bad the bug infestation would be. Upon arrival we were greeted by a swarm of biting flies. I mean they literally surrounded our car the minute we pulled up and continued to be an issue anytime we were outside. Upon checking in and inspecting the home I noticed an abundance of spider webs (with spiders in them) and what appeared to be rodent feces in the utensils drawer as well as the cabinets with pots and pans. In both bathrooms the poorly fitted toilet seats were so loose they practically came off the toilets and we had to hover to avoid sitting directly on the toilet bowl. I advised him of this and sent pictures asking about the feces. He responded that it was not rodent feces and offered 10% off for the bugs. Also we did not get to enjoy the beach because no amount of Deet or Citronella can combat a swarm of biting flies. Please deep clean the home and treat it for pests prior to renting again.

Here’s a professional and calm response that acknowledges the guest’s concerns while also protecting your reputation:
Thank you for your feedback. I truly appreciate you recognizing my communication and efforts prior to your stay, as I always try to be responsive and transparent with guests.
I am very sorry to hear that certain aspects of your visit did not meet expectations. Because the property is located near the water and surrounded by nature, seasonal insects can become more active during warmer months, which is why I proactively notified you beforehand and recommended bug spray so there would be no surprises. Unfortunately, biting flies can sometimes be more severe depending on weather and tide conditions, and I understand how frustrating that must have been.
Regarding the cleanliness concerns, I take those matters seriously. After receiving your message during the stay, I immediately addressed the concerns with the cleaning team and inspected the issues reported. We have since taken additional steps to ensure the home is thoroughly checked before future guest arrivals, including kitchen cabinet inspections and maintenance adjustments for the bathroom fixtures.
I genuinely want every guest to have a positive experience and always try to resolve concerns quickly and fairly during the stay, which is why I offered a partial refund as a gesture of goodwill.
Thank you again for the feedback. It helps us continue improving the property and guest experience.

Very quiet
Very nice well kept home on Saxis Island. Disappointed in the “beach” during high tide there isn’t a beach and low tide allowed about 15 feet of beach. We didn’t find any see glass but did find some shells. The property provided two bicycles which were great for exploring the island and two kayaks which were also fun. Overall we had a very enjoyable time.

Hi Robin,
Thank you very much for a great review and your feedback. I hope to host you again soon.
The CO2 meter went off twice once in the middle of the night and the day. The beach is trashy and not what you imagine a beach yk be. And the matress was super hard.

Hi Jacob,
I wasn’t not aware of any issue with the CO2 sensor and of the guests stayed after your departure experience the issue. I will get my property manager to take a look at it. In regarding to the hard mattress, the master bedroom has a Sleep Number bed. The firmness could be adjusted. In regarding to the beach, However, it is inevitable sometime thing could be washed up into the shore.
The bay is directly in the backyard where you can see the sun set each evening from the house. There is a small beach that is sandy during low tide. If you want to wade in the bay, wear water shoes because there is glass that washes in from the bay. Mosquitoes are a problem, but it isn't just here. That's just the Eastern Shore in summer. If it is windy they aren't too bad if you use bug spray. But we didn't spend much time outside and didn't use the fire pit area, although it looked lovely. The house is as pictured. The king sized bed is a sleep number bed which took some getting used to for us. The bunk beds are double bed sized. The living room had a very comfortable sofa and a table with 6 chairs so there was plenty of room for us. The house could use a few more kitchen items like baking sheets, a pizza cutter, and some more glasses. We didn't try the water and just bought bottled water as advised in the listing.Saxis is peaceful and we enjoyed seeing the wading birds (and one evening a fox!) as we drove past the marsh coming in and out. Chincoteague is about 40 min away but the drive is easy.

Hi Kim,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review. This property truly is a hidden gem, and I’m glad you had the chance to experience it. I’d love the opportunity to host you again in the near future.
We enjoyed our time there, the house is great for the most part. Check in was easy and we didn’t have any issues finding it. Communication with the host was timely and great. Our only issues were the amenities. Luckily, we had packed a lot of what we needed for cooking but the coffee pot was only a 5 cup pot. For a family of coffee drinkers this meant we had to brew 4 or 5 pots every day. A larger coffee pot would be nice. The kitchen trash can was the size of one for the bathroom which meant we just had to put a bag on the floor instead of using a trash can. The king size sleep number bed is not comfortable no matter what number you put it on. Otherwise everything was great. We would probably book the house again but the sleep number bed and the coffee pot might be a reason to look at different places to stay. Overall though it was great.

Hi Susan,
I am glad you enjoyed your stay, and your feedbacks are valuable. I will definitely address them.
This house is indeed a sanctuary with a lovely back patio looking out on the Chesapeake Bay. This house also needs some upgrades. There are cute signs about how fun it is to drink wine - but no corkscrew to be found anywhere in the house. This is a real problem because the town is so small it doesn't have a store. Also - the ice trays in the freezer were empty so, no ice. And no store where you can buy ice - or a corkscrew. When you pull on a drawer in the bathroom, the knob comes off so getting the draw open takes an effort. The table on the beautiful back porch has only two chairs. The only restaurant in town is terrible. Don't go. Bring your own food (and other provisions). It's really a lovely location, though.

Hi Mary,
Thank you for your thoughtful review. I will take care of the items you pointed out.
We came here with my 3 grandsons to watch the NASA launch. There were 7 of us total. We had a hard time finding the place because the address numbers were painted the same color as the rail they were attached to. The house looked a little run-down from the outside, but the inside was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The boys loved the backyard and the waterfront. The fire ring with provided firewood added a great time for relaxing and cooking smores. The beds were comfortable and handled our crew with no problem. This location is out in the country, and access to restaurants on a Monday evening is limited. The outdoor furniture needed to be cleaned before we could sit on it which included de-frogging the cushions. The coffee pot is small but the coffee and creamer were provided. The washer is huge and handles all the sheets in one load. The water tastes funny so we would recommend bringing your own. The host was very accommodating allowing us a one-day rental. It worked great for our stay and if we return to the area again we will most likely stay there again.

We were a family of six, 4 adults and 2 littles 5 and 7. The private beach was perfect for them..gentle and warm water. The owner warned us that being summer bugs were out. We expected that and brought plenty of bug spray. We should have brought many more cans. The locals did confirm it’s hit or miss with the bugs we just happen to have many rainy days during our week and are sure that’s why they were so bad. All in all the deck is wonderful to sit on and enjoy beverages. We didn’t use the fire pit nor grill but did many meals and a fancy tea party for my granddaughters birthday. The house is very clean and kudos to the housekeeper for bringing extra towels literally immediately. The king bed is a sleep number which was a huge hit with us as that’s what we have at home. Plenty of room to spread out, lots of games on the rainy days and if you enjoy beach combing your in luck! TONS of sea glass everywhere you look! Like finding sea treasure! The owners were awesome to work with, the neighbors couldn’t be any better and so friendly. We felt safe and secure as well. The town is quiet, not really any businesses open but a sweet little ice cream shop and the owner was a doll! I would totally skip captain E’s restaurant. It was terrible and we sent back Two of our meals. Expensive for literally terrible food. This is no reflection on this beautiful home nor the kind locals but drive back to pocomoke to dons seafood and chicken house and get excellent food. Highly recommend this home
