About this property
Cozy Writer's Retreat in the Redwoods - just up the hill from the Russian River!
Modern and fully furnished 1 bedroom/2 bathroom two-story home in the West Sonoma County town of Guerneville, perfect as a writers retreat or relaxing, woodsy summer getaway from the city. Perched at the top of a hill in Guernewood Park, the house sits on a corner with views of redwoods from all windows and from both the first-floor deck as well as the second-floor balcony. The driveway is inclined and can comfortably fit 2 cars. There is a desk in the bedroom as well as one in the loft if work calls while you're away. There is both central air and central heat, as well as a wood-burning fireplace on the first floor, and a smart tv complete with Netflix, Hulu, and more. Plenty of sunlight in this very quiet corner of town, and inflatable river toys & manual pump are accessible to you when you decide to hop in the river at the bottom of the hill. All appliances are brand new. Ultimate relaxation and star-gazing by night, with very respectful and quiet neighbors.
A historically LGBTQ & allies recreation and resort destination just over an hour from San Francisco, Guerneville turns into the biggest little town in the warmer months, filled with visitors who all seek to bask in the sun while floating lazily down the Russian River after sipping on local wine. The house is 5 minutes from the nearest grocery store as well as downtown, which features a variety of LGBTQ bars, local fare, cafes, vintage shops, a post office, a yoga studio, a massage therapist, an aesthetician, a laundromat, and art galleries. The coastline and nearest beach is 15 minutes away, dozens of vineyards are within 20 minutes by car, and endless hiking and biking trails cover the area from the coast to the 101. The nearest access point into the river is a locals "beach" that is at the bottom of our hill and across River Road, but there are plenty of public access points as well as kayak, canoe, and inner tube rentals.
We are looking for a quiet individual or couple to treat our home with the same love and respect we do, who can enjoy the peace and serenity of staying in our house on the hill, while enjoying the nightlife and summer offerings of our community. Neighbors are on two sides but there's still a great sense of privacy when you are here.
You will need a car to get around the area and please note that there are several ways to get to our house (all paved) but all of them are uphill - one route being quite steep (but absolutely manageable in a sedan).
Also of note for anyone who has never visited Guerneville: we are in the middle of the woods so anticipate potentially coming in contact with nature! It's a beautiful thing to see deer grazing in the front yard, and it's a typical thing to see a spider near front door.
