This large one bedroom, one bathroom, dog friendly suite is equipped with everything. The bedroom boasts a king size bed, with an ensuite bathroom. The living room area is home to two large and cozy leather chairs, a desk, and a small breakfast nook. There is ample closet space in the unit and it comes equipped with a TV, coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, and newly installed mini splits.

Howland House, located at 205 Spring Street, is in one of the best locations in Newport. You are a five minute walk to famous Newport landmarks such as: Bannisters & Bowens Wharf, Trinity and St. Mary's Church and The Black Pearl Restaurant. Truly, you are in the heart of it all with dozens of restaurants, shops, bars and sights right outside your door.

Hop in your car for a 10 minute drive to both the Ocean Drive and Bellevue Avenue Preservation Society Mansions.

Windward Suites properties are all keyless, and instead use keypad smart locks for all of the doors for both the buildings and units. All guests will receive an email the morning of their arrival with the instructions, codes to the doors and Wifi. Super easy!

Check-in time is anytime after 3:00 p.m. Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Please be respectful of these times unless you have contacted us, as we have a cleaning crew who need the time to do a thorough job before and after all of our guests.

There are three on site parking spots which are on a first come first serve basis, there is a city lot on Church St a few blocks away and we have a lot on Oak St, by request only, which is a 5min walk away.

Howland House is a classic historic, four unit, building with the original construction dating back to 1750. It is one of Newport's oldest homes predating the Revolution. It has undergone many updates and renovations to bring new world comfort with an old world feeling.

Unit 18 is located on the second floor and is bathed in natural sunlight. The unit has been recently refreshed with new decor. The french doors opening to the bedroom and hardwood floors throughout make it feel charming and warm.

All of Windwards properties are professionally cleaned between guests and come outfitted in high end linens and towels.

Aside from the cleanliness of the space, it is in one of the most sought after locations in Newport. Right outside your door you can spot historic St. Mary’s Church, and you are steps away from Thames Street, Bannisters & Bowens Wharf, and endless restaurants, bars, and shopping.

Great location! Love the decor and was super comfortable for one or two people and a great alternative to a hotel. The instructions were timely and well done, and Keith was highly responsive when I could not figure out how to the use the AC. Just note that there are some steep stairs to the room so you might want to rent one of the lower units if stairs are an issue.

Amazing Newport trip

Our stay was amazing and super close to everything. Place was super clean and a great location. Every meal we had was amazing and got to see a lot in 2 days. Only downside was parking, especially on Saturday it was near impossible to get a spot even close to the place we stayed.

We almost don’t want others to know what a great spot this is! Very relaxing, only moved car once over a four night stay. Well equipped, location is optimal. Had all toiletries and a loaded keurig coffee station Wasn’t a problem for us, but stairs were on the steep side if mobility is a concern. Keyless entry was great!

Fantastic stay at Howland House

We had a fantastic 2-night stay at Howland House which is perfectly located for getting around town. The restaurants & shops are mostly within a short walking distance — no need to drive! This was our first stay with our 5 month old Alaskan Malamute puppy who loves to travel. Keith & Matt provided plenty of helpful information prior to our stay & even checked in with us to be sure everything was in working order. The rooms were well decorated and the king bed extremely comfortable. The location was centrally located and walkable to many restaurants. When we had a request the owner was responsive. Parking could be a challenge but we were able to use one of the 2 spots in back of the building

Presented as advertised. Note should be made as to steep staircase, would not be good for anyone with ambulation difficulty. While it is off season, could use some touch-ups.
